I wondered why

I felt so weird today, 6 months to my birthday - no- that wasn't it. Raining, no. Lots of walking about on cobblestones, possibly.
Suddenly, this evening, I realised that it was 8 years ago today that my lovely daddy died.
Mystery over, but even at 66 I WANT MY DADDY!

My Dad died in April 2001 and I still miss him now at 67 yrs old. He was 67 when he died, so it resonates that I'm the same age as he was when he died. Great man who valued his family and a good education for us all despite not being academic himself, but he was a hugely successful businessman.

His anniversary is coming up soon, and is always during the week of the Masters golf in Augusta, which he was watching from his bed in his last days. He was captain of his golf club too. Ticked all the boxes there lol!

I do empathise with you OP. They will not be forgotten.

Aw OP 💐
I genuinely, really, can’t imagine life without my dad. He’s 70 now 😢

I'm sorry about your dad. I know my husband misses his dreadfully even after 14 years.

I don't think the lack of response was down to anything other than chat being very busy so threads drop off quickly - plus your title didn't really indicate what the subject was. I'm sure if you'd have put 'i miss my dad's or similar you'd have had more responses as I expect it's something that, sadly, resonates with a lot of people

My DF passed away 14 years ago last week. It was the day after the anniversary I had that ‘weird feeling’ and remembered. He wasn’t the best of dads, but I do miss him.

Could do with a cry now! 😢
