What is the cost of 'Prom' tickets where you are?

My Dd (17) receives Free School Meals due to our circumstances.
Her school is good re passing on Uniforms and sensible in every way.
But end of 6th form 'Prom' is coming up, plus a daytrip to a seaside town (no entrance costs involved but costs of coach etc).Clearly she doesn't have to go to either but, as there is currently some bullying, I am keen she doesn't feel excluded. The cost for both is nearly £100. Ouch. I might speak to school to see if any help is available before I sell something, but I wondered, is this standard for an average state secondary? Perhaps I'm being silly but I was surprised.

I would speak to the school and explain the situation. Maybe they can subsidise it in some way? Could your daughter contribute? Maybe a weekend job?

We're also on free school meals. I have twins y11. Last month we were asked for
£25 school prom,
£24 photos,
£22 year book,
£26 school jumper.
So £197 for the two. I was relieved they said no to most of it, but feel they may have done so because they know money is tight. Why can't schools start a payment plan in September they know these things come round every year.

Yes. Our school prom is £49. The daytrip (only to the beach) is £40. Yearbook: £25. Leavers hoody: £28. Photos (1x headshot & 1x yeargroup if you please) £70.
I appreciate these things are voluntary but it's a pity Inclusion goes out the window.
She can't get a job as she's disabled & struggling enough as it is.

Thankfully both of mine shunned the age 16 prom, eldest went out for dinner with a friend and younger held a party at my house (not sure that was cheaper for me!)

School prom is £48. Haven’t had anything about the leavers hoodies yet, but they were £17 last year so hopefully not gone up too much.

You could make the same argument for parents putting a tenner aside each month from September. What's the difference?
