Quick question re. gynae appointment.

I’ve got an appointment to see a Uro-gynaecologist tomorrow about a prolapse and bladder weakness, and typically my period has decided to arrive today.

Can I still go to this appointment? Is it seen as a bad thing to expect a medical person to examine you while you’re on? Or will they really not care? I can’t cancel it as I’ve already had to rearrange twice for other reasons.

I think you can still visit a gynaecologist whilst on period, I wouldn’t though, I’d rearrange just because I imagine it wouldn’t be very pleasant for the doctor. Can you call them tomorrow and ask them if you’re still ok to attend?

It'll take more than a bit of normal physiology to phase them! Go. Tell them beforehand if they need to examine you. If it worries you being examined whilst menstruating then let them know - they can rearrange things, but at least you'll be on their radar. Probably best not to use a tampon or remove it just before hand.

Ask them. I had a gynae appointment and they just put a puppy pad thing down on the chair.

I had to do urodynamics with my period. The didn't care but obviously I told them. And was wearing a pad due to prolapse anyways

I think I’ll brave it, luckily I don’t have very heavy periods these days so shouldn’t be too much of a blood bath 🙈
