Hurt ankle/foot- do I just rest it?

As I was coming down some stairs, my ankle gave way, and my foot bent underneath me.

I have a little swelling and grazing to it to the top of my foot, it hurts when I put weight on it, however I can walk on it.

Do I just rest and ice it?

Do some gentle flexing exercises (write numbers and letters in the air with your toes) , ice it and then progress onto heel raises and flexing toes back towards you.

Rest elevate and ice for 20 minutes every 4 hours is what I was told by the hospital and to do some exercises which you can probably find online.

it does take a while to heal in my experience. I had the same injury 2 weeks ago and I’m still heavily bruised and limping

Thank you, I have it elevated, will do some exercises, but it's stiff and throbbing! I'm annoyed because I start a new job in a few days!

If it’s not significantly better in a day or so then do get it checked (minor injuries for preference).
