Just Eat refusing to refund

I ordered a McDonalds through Just Eat on Friday night. We were delivered completely the wrong order; loads of food we didn’t want and basically not a single thing we had actually ordered.

They are refusing to refund. I’ve sent them photographs to show the wrong order but they are still refusing to give me my money back. I’m so annoyed and have emailed again asking for an explanation but what else can I do?

Thanks

This happened to me once but I paid with PayPal. I did a claim off them for half my order and was successful. There was no way to take anything further with just eat and they wouldn’t escalate my complaint.

BlueBurys · 23/03/2025 15:29

That’s odd. I always get refunded from them easily. Do you complain a lot?

Cursory · 23/03/2025 15:31

Dispute the transaction with your bank. I did that with UberEats after they refused to refund me when the driver took my order to the wrong address.

Stygimoloch · 23/03/2025 15:49

@BlueBurys only when something is wrong, for example items missed. I don’t complain for no reason.

@CursoryI will try this. Thanks for the advice.

@Cookiedough123paypal going forward I think!

Yeah but if you complain often they start to become suspicious unfortunately

Our McDonalds orders are always notoriously wrong & we’ve always been refunded but I remember my DH got some sort of warning about requesting refunds too often (so we now order from a different account).

Stygimoloch · 23/03/2025 16:03

@MrsPeterHarrisit’s ridiculous to warn customers for refunding too often! It should tell them something about the appalling service rather than punish the customer for requesting a refund when something is wrong.

Not that it will bother them in the slightest but I will delete our Just Eat account. I’m £30 down due to their poor service and am pretty angry about it!

Had the same problem but luckily paid with PayPal and got a refund. I also had the same issue with Uber too. Don’t bother using either anymore.

Stygimoloch · 23/03/2025 16:15

@IvalueloyaltyaboveallelseI definitely won’t be using them again after this. I have to wait until tomorrow to dispute with bank but after that I’ll be deleting the app. Might work out better in the long term as we could do with cutting down on the takeaways!

It is pretty rubbish as I imagine that they would be able to see clearly that McDonald’s has a lot of refunds from a lot of different customers. Plus we’ve never had a refund from anywhere else, so it’s not like we’re prolific asking for refunds. You’d think they have a proper algorithm for picking it up properly & not punishing decent customers!

Blueberry911 · 23/03/2025 18:35

Justeat said they had a policy to only refund 50% of a wrong order, so I claimed the other half back via PayPal disputes and didn't use them again 🤷

Thestarsinthesky · 23/03/2025 18:51

I’ve had similar problems so have stopped using them. I told them I’d dispute it with the bank and then they paid me themselves. Now we only order and collect direct for takeaways. I got fed up of apps like just eat Deliveroo not refunding or sorting missing items out. Also the food would be cold so not worth eating. Given up! We now just collect and eat a lot less takeaways.

DecemberBabe · 12/07/2025 07:32

Yep all these delivery food service apps are scum.
We only order direct from our locals now or collect, much easier.
