In pain. Anyone else awake?

I had part of my toenail removed (ripped out) yesterday and I am awake with a painful throbbing big toe 😫
Paracetamol ain't touching it

Also had 2 lots of awful news this week including a very sad death.

Anyone up to keep me company

yes.

wisdom tooth out earlier this week.

have painkillers but they only work for a bit.

sorry about your toe.

Alwaystired2023 · 23/03/2025 04:29

Oh gosh I'm sorry to both of you, awful injuries and I'm sorry to hear of your losses OP. Are you laying in bed or up with a tea ? Something distracting on television or a podcast?

I’m up, have been since 2am. I’ve got a bad flare up of my Rheumatoid Arthritis and tonight it’s really nasty, have been in the flare for 2 weeks now. Another week and a bit and I’ll have my infusion, which will help.

I’m on codeine, Tramadol which isn’t helping too much this morning. Going to add caffeine and maybe a roll up to the mix in a minute.

Tarkan · 23/03/2025 04:34

Flowers to those in pain.

I’m on the pain bench too. Was woken up around an hour ago with period pains, but rather than cramps it’s more an ache over my abdomen which has been quite bloated from it today and the pain is just so constant I’m trying not to throw up from it.

I have chronic pain anyway so took a couple of my usual cocodamol and even that hasn’t helped.

Currently lying in bed watching Disenchantment on Netflix and debating if I should get up and try to sleep on the recliner in the living room instead.

Oh no! That must be so sore. Can you eat?

I can't walk very well but at least I can eat chocolate so swings and roundabouts I guess!

I’ve just had sprite and an aero.

not very healthy but I’ve been eating mush for the last week.

when I ripped my toenail off it helped a bit to keep it bandaged. You’ve probably already got that.

Oh how rubbish for you. I used to get much worse period pains before I tried the fodmap duet. Boring food but definitely helped. Hope netflix is a good distraction for you

Oh that must be tough to live with. My pain is (hopefully) just a temporary thing so I'm sorry you're dealing with this all the time.

Hope the caffeine and roll up help. I'm only on herbal tea here (but if offered special cookies would provably partake!)

Mint aero or plain? I really fancy one of those now!

It's bandaged and I don't know if I will ever dare to remove the bandage and look at it

It used to be awful when I was a teenager but had my DC in my 20s and it was mostly fine after that. Pretty sure peri-menopause is kicking in now and it’s brought even more delights than I expected. This being one of them. At least my periods are only a couple of days each time now compared to the full week I always had as a teen I guess.

I do also have Naproxen I could take but that would mean getting up and eating something with it and I don’t really want to do that at this time. 🙈

HelpMeGetThrough · 23/03/2025 04:53

I took some naproxen last week with my other cocktail of painkillers. It works really well, but gave me a bit of a bad stomach, so trying to avoid it at the moment.

one thing I have noticed when looking out the window is the number of taxis bringing people home. I never knew all the neighbours were party animals!! 😁

Difficultwill · 23/03/2025 05:17

I have chronic pain and been up for a couple of hours. I am trying to reduce my painkillers and it is not going well!!!!!! My pain has ranked up something awful. I will try and persevere as I really want to reduce them but it is very hard. I am also hiding my pain from my family which is hard but I don’t want them to worry about me hence posting here where no one knows me.
i hope your toe feels better very soon. Have you tried some ice on it? Bag of peas wrapped in a tea towel may help a bit

ThisIsMeTryingNow · 23/03/2025 05:27

Another person in pain here. Been awake since 4am.

Had a laparoscopic operation this week and am so sore and bruised. Just feel weak and a bit pathetic to be honest.

Normallynumb · 23/03/2025 05:59

I’m up too, Sciatica connected with my Cerebral Palsy. Mug of coffee, and vape
my sympathies to all of you In pain

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/03/2025 06:07

Sorry everyone is struggling. II'm really struggling with my sleep at the moment. 've been awake since 4.11am and got up at around 5.30. I've got a tension headache and pain across my shoulders, which the five hours of sleep I managed hasn't shifted. I've taken a Syndol and am sitting with a hot water bottle and a cup of tea, trying not to think about work.

Hope everyone feels better soon.

IsitaHatOrACat · 23/03/2025 10:14

I somehow got back to sleep

Thanks for the advice on a bag of peas. Going to try that now

A sternotomy sounds very painful - hope the pain reduces soon

Hope everyone got a bit of rest. I have a jigsaw, book and a needy cat to distract my tired self today though my just end up lying on the sofa
