Painting patio slabs

I think this is probably not the best idea I've had.
However our patio slabs are dreadful.
Can't afford to replace.
Has anyone done this.
If so which product did you use and were you pleased with the results .?

Would power washing them make them look better instead? Gets rid of all the grime.

Yes, I've done this with great success!
Our back garden has a large area of paving slabs, they were all boring grey, and donkeys years old.
We painted them using Sandtex smooth masonry last March. It transformed the look of the garden. Lots of foot traffic, we don't have to avoid walking on them.
They till look fabulous a year on. The colour we used was Sandstone.
We didn't prime them or anything, and just used rollers to apply 2 coats.
Go for it!

I did it years ago. The result was a very blocked drain!

Yes I love power washing . . It's taken all the grime off but it's almost like they've become discoloured over time.
