Mother’s Day next week - what gift would you love to receive?

OP posts:
caffelattetogo · 22/03/2025 18:48

Homemade cards and a homemade cake.

DappledThings · 22/03/2025 18:49

Nothing. It's not a present occasion. DC will make cards at school. Job done.

Sharptonguedwoman · 22/03/2025 18:51

One I hadn't thought about, booked and organised. A well thought out surprise.

@FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee what on earth is that?

Chocolate orange jazzies things. I love anything chocolate orange.

Peanut91 · 22/03/2025 19:05

My DH comes back this week after a three week holiday so I would love him to take the lead parenting for the day and to clean the house 🤭

RabbitsRock · 22/03/2025 19:11

The last few years DD16 hasn’t bothered at all which is upsetting, especially as we tend to make a big deal of special occasions for her. She used to go to so much trouble when she was younger. I’d be happy with a card & a bunch of flowers. Luckily I’m not working this year so we’re going to a local Donkey Sanctuary. The cafe there does lovely food so we’ll have lunch.

Imperfectpolly · 22/03/2025 19:11

I've asked for a pair of sandals but don't think I'll get them.
5yo is making me a card as I type this. Will be very happy with this as its made with love.

Differentstarts · 22/03/2025 19:11

A cup of tea in bed in the morning, cards from my girls and a takeaway in the evening would be perfect

LollyLand · 22/03/2025 19:12

For someone to make some effort. Nobody ever does anything thoughtful.

edwinbear · 22/03/2025 19:12

I’d like 15yr old DS to come out of his room for longer than 15mins 🤣. DD (13) will be on the school ski trip and I’ll miss her as she usually does a home spa thing for me. DH will cook a lovely dinner though and I’ll get a card and a few little things to unwrap.

AlwaysColdHands · 22/03/2025 19:13

The end of patriarchy expecting mothers to do. Fucking. Everything.

Taytocrisps · 22/03/2025 19:15

I'd love something ceramic relating to Easter - a bunny or eggs or something.

Or a bookshop gift card.

But mainly I'd love to have DD home for dinner that day. I suspect she's working though.

IncessantNameChanger · 22/03/2025 19:18

The new jelly cat Otter because I asked for it. It's normally cards and tea in bed in the morning.

Look at his face! I NEED him

It's my send mothers day after mum.died. could have done with just one day of feeling like she genuinely loved me.

Sleep

This.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 22/03/2025 19:27

A day to myself where I don't have to think about anyone else, ideally at a beautiful spa where I can have several treatments. It's unlikely as I have a breastfed baby but I'm banking this dream for the future when I can have some time alone!

dunroamingfornow · 22/03/2025 19:32

BillyBoe46 · 22/03/2025 18:13

I want a day on my own

Yes to this!

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 22/03/2025 19:36

Mine are all adults and I brought the five of them up by myself. They now appreciate it, after years of stroppy teenhood! So I've got three of them coming for dinner on Mother's Day, I'm quite happy to cook a slap up Sunday roast and have them hanging around talking wedding stuff (two of them are getting married soon). They asked what I would like for Mother's Day and I've asked for a drill, because I need one.

Peace and quiet 🤫

first poster nailed it, end of thread 😂

HappySheldon · 22/03/2025 19:43

Honestly nothing. It sounds silly but I'm not great with gifts- either giving or receiving so I'd rather nothing at all. And my older DS gets stressed about it so I'd rather a hug. Plus we are a bit short on disposable income right now so I'd rather no-one bothers.

ETA- How many 'rather's can I fit into one short paragraph!

pilates · 22/03/2025 19:45

Hanging basket

abracadabra1980 · 22/03/2025 19:46

A rude card. DC are now adults. We like a giggle in our family.

For my DM, who has dementia, to know who I am.

Anything made or bought with love

CountryQueen · 22/03/2025 19:48

Posh body scrub. I have a spa membership so will spend a couple of hours there then the kids are either cooking or taking me out. Definitely breakfast in bed but to be fair one of them brought me tea and toast this morning and the other cooked dinner tonight
