Air BNB - Cottage Company wants to verify my identity but I already did that with Airbnb

I have been with AirBnB for a while and booked various stays but never had them ask this before.
I booked a cottage by the sea over Easter and after I paid the deposit I got a message asking me to follow a link and verify my identity by uploading a pic of my driving licence.
I have sent a message back referring them to my Air BnB profile which says my identity is verified. They haven't answered.

Is this something anyone has come across? I thought the point of Air BnB was to be a go between so you don't have to do this stuff - Sykes and Booking.com have never asked that and it strikes me as weird!
Am I being paranoid or is that strange?
What would you do?

I would ask Airbnb about it. It might be legitimate, it might be a scam to get personal details. I think you're right to be cautious.
