I am interested in applying.I have worked in special Ed for over 20 years and an looking for a change that I think would be interesting, give me a new challenge, and I think I have the right sort of personality as I'm known for being calm and logical in a crisis . I wonder if my age would go against me (50s) but I don't have child care responsibilities now, just one son at home who is an adult with autism but semi independent. I've been thinking about it for quite a long time but would love to hear from anyone in the job!

I used to be a police dispatcher but that involved taking some calls too. I quite enjoyed the call taking part for a couple of hours but wouldn’t have fancied it all day. But I have colleagues who joined with me who were full time call takers who are still here (nearly 20 years later) so it must have something going for it.

Your age won’t mater at all.

You are aware if you’re going for a full time job it’s 24/7 though? Working shifts might be a shock to the system
