Old Films

Why is it so rare for old films from the 1940s and 1950s to be shown these days? Caught the last ten mins of An Affair to Remember on Film4 the other day and can’t find anywhere to watch it free. It’s unavailable on catch up. I’m not paying to rent it either. Once upon a time there used to be old films shown on a Sunday. I’m sick of all the utter dross on TV. Anyone got
any suggestions? I have freeview, no cable channels.

I never notice what’s on there generally unless I catch something that’s halfway through. Will try and monitor it. I just wish there was a streaming service that allowed you to choose films for free.

It's Channel 82 on Freeview. It rarely shows anything I've heard of before. Lots and lots of B pictures, I expect!
