Job roles for a RMN wanting to leave NHS?

I’m a mental health nurse with 12 years experience in specialist dementia services within the NHS. My current role is a memory assessor.
i love my actual job and the patient group but hate hate hate the way the NHS disregards its employees and I feel more and more like a work horse . My current team are making changes to our practice which has really put me off working in this role.

I just wondered if there is anyone who has been a registered nurse and left the NHS and what they have gone on to do? Open to any suggestions

Maybe have a look at charities in your area specialising in dementia.
I don’t have my registration anymore, as gave up a long time ago for other reasons, but now work for an amazing local charity and visit people in their homes for assessment. It’s very similar to my role as CPN but none of the nhs crap. Obviously this job pays less but you are still registered so have a look at ones needing nurses.

What about hospice care?

There are jobs like becoming an IMCA or working an a dementia advisor for Alzheimer's society but that would be a pay cut. There might be safeguarding jobs for the council.

I have also seen a couple of jobs for care agencies as care coordinators for people with complex needs. I saw these on NHS jobs even though they're not NHS.

There's also of course care home work. I imagine you'd climb the ladder pretty quickly in the current climate- very hard work though and very stressful if you go into management.

My registration is up for renewal in September and prepared to let it go for the right job to be honest!

What do you want to do? What do you see yourself doing? I presume you want to stay community and you want to stay in dementia work?
