Hive Mind: Very Boring (Sorry)- New Sofa

Hello all

I apologise for the boringness of this thread, but I know how good you all are at finding things and I could do with the old Mumsnet hive mind on this.

we are looking to buy a new sofa, a corner one. Our space is about 3.5m X 2.5m and we want it to comfortably sit four adults. We would like recliners for at least two seats- electronic ones would be ideal but manual
considered- and quite like the consoles in some of them with drinks holders/tables etc. Other things like wireless charging, ports for USB chargers and hidden storage would be a bonus but are less essential.

We have fallen in love with the large Sofilogy Lumiere, but it’s a bit big for our space. We are considering having a chat with a Sofology rep in store to talk about how we might be able to cut the Lumiere down a bit to fit (I think that’s possible as it’s modular) but it would be good if there was something off the shelf we could buy if anyone else sells something similar.

Colour is flexible as we are fully redecorating so could make the colour scheme fit the sofa. Material also flexible. I don’t know where sells sofas other than the obvious big high street places like Sofology and DFS, and we’ve only been in a Sofology and I haven’t done a huge amount of research on this.

I know that lots of you are great at finding things and that lots of you have lots of furniture expertise, so would really appreciate your help. Budget anything up to about £5k.

Thanks in advance!

Just bumping this as it was apparently too boring for answers 😂

I think that sofa, even with a bit taken out, is going to overwhelm even a fairly big living room. And the reclining elements take up even more space, as the back needs space to tilt, too, so it needs to be quite a way out from the walls. Then you can’t have a table too near either because of the recliner element in front. My PILs had something like that and ended up getting rid of it despite it having cost some incredible sum, because its size just ate the room.

II’d go back to the drawing board on this one, and start with measurements. Don’t even look at something too big for your space.

Thanks @PlasticBags- I hear what you’re saying but it’s a big room, it’s just because of the configuration of various internal doors and French doors the largest space we have for an L shaped sofa is this 3.5 X 2.5 space.

We are happy to consider anything - been looking at U shapes too, as well as L shapes and just a couple of traditional sofas. But as I said in my OP I’m a bit stuck as to other places I can look other than the big stores like DFS, Sofology and Furniture Village. So any ideas will be much appreciated.

You might need to get on Google… presumably you want to sit in it before you buy it? So best to check which sofa shops are in your nearest city or other cities you can get to.
