Very small luxuries that feel worth it

On a budget at the moment. My small luxuries are the odd bunch of flowers - daffodils at £1 a bunch are just lovely. Also dark chocolate (Moser Roth) and blank notebooks.

@PutYourSpecsOnJean the Lidl dupes look lovely but don't perform well. The lavender body wash is rubbish. Smell is weak and the lather disappears in seconds.

Velmy · 19/03/2025 19:27

I always splurge for the most expensive and daft sounding loo roll from Waitrose. Vanilla and sandalwood at the moment!

The world may have kicked my arse that day, but at least I can give it a treat when I get home 🤣

Perello olives. I love them.

With you on these - bestest ever olives ever - love them

Plants Especially house plants in teeny tiny pots.

Cheap kindle downloads. Cheap books generally.

Same! Lidls do some great bargains on these sometimes, I’ve got some lush succulents from them and their care is so minimal.

bloominglove · 19/03/2025 19:59

Tins of fancy olives and veggie antipasti to make salads feel more luxury.
I love my Neom mini diffuser - rechargeable and much less faff than candles, but my essential oils in home bargains to refill them!
Dried flowers as they last ages!
Sneaking the free biscuits for meetings at work!

whengodwasarabbit1 · 19/03/2025 20:16

Books
Incense sticks
Twinings chai tea

tattoonewbie · 19/03/2025 21:53

Used to love the rhubarb and rose hand soap from Aldi but they changed it to not rose. It was amazing.
I love a flat white from the local independent coffee shop but at £3.50 it's a push and I feel guilty thereby undoing the win!

Nice cheese. A good strong cheddar - though I'm not sure that counts as cheap anymore. Little slivers eaten from the packet out of the fridge....

Nice handcream.

Bar soap from TK Max lasts ages and smells lovely.

We love Aldi's excellent strength 7 vintage cheddar in our house. My 14 year knows if I buy anything else, it just doesn't have the same flavour.

MakingClothesFlat · 20/03/2025 00:10

Love this thread.

A colourful reusable cup kept in my car for posh coffee on the go
Lavazza Decaf in the house
Posh sticky chai by post
Vases of Tulips, Sweet William and Peonies
Tony's salt and caramel bars
TK Maxx triple milled soaps
Candles by Voya
Cashmere. Often purchased for less than a fiver in my local independent charity shop
A pair of handmade kid leather gloves from Portugal
Audible subscription
French manicure

IlovePond · 20/03/2025 15:11

I too love my Audible subscription!

I really enjoy using most of my Aldi dupe purchases, (the Drunk Elephant and the Sunday Riley dupes are brilliant and the Pomegranate Noir no 3 scent is indistinguishable from my Jo Malone original imo). However, there are undoubtedly some duds, (the lip oil was a case in point for me).

I agree with the joy to be found in tiny plants - especially cacti which even I seem to be able to avoid killing off. My two Lidl Xmas cacti are still going strong too.

I also like making coffee in my ancient Dolce Gusto machine, (dug it out of the cupboard during lockdown when I was cruelly cut off from Costa and have never looked back!)

I also recommend Aldi’s frothy coffee packets, (Nescafé dupes). My favourite is the caramel one and such a bargain at £1.09 atm.

Deathraystare · 21/03/2025 10:18

Audible subscription (and got lots of free books. Some are really good though would never have chosen them if paying for them!).

Occasional coffee or lunch out.

Pears and Badedas shower gels

Had a really yummy Dr Pepper with creamy coconut. Only seen it in one shop (by my launderette actually!)

Treated myself to some coffee creams a while back.

Deathraystare · 21/03/2025 10:31

Yesterday I treated myself to some dates. They were huge fat things and wondefully, ok for diabetics! Dunno how much they were but not expensive!

WinterFoxes · 21/03/2025 10:36

Daffs
And roses- very good value this year.
Fresh berries or melon - a real treat for well under £5 and almost no calories.
Seasonal scented candles, soap and shower gel.

WinterFoxes · 21/03/2025 10:37

Downloading a cheap or free book on Kindle

FlyingUnicornWings · 21/03/2025 11:06

I love a new mug.

HRTQueen · 21/03/2025 11:16

Flowers I buy a little bunch when in Lidl

Audio and the kindle book its extravagant but my treat to myself (this isn't with all sometimes I just buy one or the other)

French soap i love the Jasmine, Sandalwood and Honey soaps and handmade tobacco smelling soaps (absolutely love this not easy to find)

Verv · 21/03/2025 13:32

Proper espresso in the morning, made using a moka pot.

JanglingJack · 21/03/2025 13:38

Definitely daffodils... Morrisons sent me 3 bunches instead of the two I'd ordered. They just look lovely.

If I need a treat moisturising or cleansing wise then I'll wait for Boots £10 Tuesday.

I've just given up smoking (6 weeks) and that was a stupid amount of money... So now I am trying to treat self a little.

Candles, now I can smell them!!

A couple of years ago on here me and @sweetpea1532 had a long discussion about the fact that malteses in boxes tastes better , we both agree with you but can't explain why they do 😃

Its the same as coke tasting better out of a glass bottle

Normallynumb · 21/03/2025 14:49

Large skinny Cappuccino in a coffee shop when I need a rest on the way home
Lindt hazelnut milk, or Toneys chocoloney chocolate once a week.
Monthly Haircut and Colour
Matrix “ Keep me vivid” shampoo to maintain the above.

I agree and have a box lined up for next week to have with DH at cinema .

I think there's something grown up and expensive looking about a box compared to a bag

NotDarkGothicMama · 21/03/2025 16:02

Packets of frozen chopped onions, rather than crying over chopping my own.
