Very small luxuries that feel worth it

On a budget at the moment. My small luxuries are the odd bunch of flowers - daffodils at £1 a bunch are just lovely. Also dark chocolate (Moser Roth) and blank notebooks.

I hate cut flowers, the poor things are dying. Just look at them when they're growing.

I wanted to be a florist until my mum (a keen gardener) said ‘it’s just messing about with dead flowers!’ - I still love cut flowers though.

nespresso coffee pods £6 for a sleeve of 10. Pop it in a thermos to take to work better than any coffee on the high street

Ribenaberry12 · 18/03/2025 21:10

I have the press reader app with my library card and I love reading magazines on my iPad. The Simple Things, BBC Good Food and Olive are my favourites because I could never justify buying them but love the recipes.

Lots of cushions and blankets in bed or watching tv.

A nice hot chocolate.

Going through the carwash 😎 Serve me my giant soapy robot slave!

Yes! I get the rainbow foam.

Aldi and Lidl makeup and hand wash. I always check my local Aldi to see what cosmetics and skincare they have in, I ony buy products I'd use anyway but they are usually good vfm (but sometimes I'll like something and never see it again). I like the Lidl L'Occitane dupes too.

Squidgemoon · 18/03/2025 21:17

Frozen onions and garlic. I love just chucking them into a pan instead of faffing around with a chopping board, eyes streaming and hands smelling for the rest of the day!

harriethoyle · 18/03/2025 21:20

Molton Brown bubble bath. I love the scents and it produces masses of bubbles. Ditto Fenjel bath oil although no foam with that.

Gotback · 18/03/2025 21:22

Birdseed. Love those feathery fuckers in my garden.

LandSharksAnonymous · 18/03/2025 21:26

Wax melts!

You can get a burner off amazon or Dunelm for £5 and a box of wax melts (really good quality) off Etsy for £6.50.

The person I buy from charges £6.50 for 12 melts, free postage, and it’s about 140scent time. Way cheaper than a candle!

Oncr you’ve got the burner everything else is cheap! Plus you can change scent every day and mix n’ match!

Decent biros

Please tell me about the Lidl l'Occitane dupes! Everyones always going on about the brilliant dupes at Aldi but I'm much nearer a Lidl and would love to know about lovely stuff to find there

They’ve some fantastic candles in at the moment at the tills - very similar to Jo malone

Using up the countless samples and little bottles of stuff from all the beauty boxes I seem to have hoarded.

Usernamehistoryfull · 18/03/2025 22:08

Dropping a pound into a charity pot usually gives me a warm fuzzy feeling for the rest of the day

caffelattetogo · 19/03/2025 13:47

I love daffodils. £1 and so cheery.
Also, bird food. A £2 bag and I get to watch the birds happy outside my window all week.

Box of malteasers, not the bags. They taste better and are cheaper!

I read a “scientific study” recently which said that that actually do taste better from the box, something to do with how they roll around over each other 😂

The boxes are currently half price (reduced to £1.50) in my Sainsbury’s Local btw.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 19/03/2025 14:21

Perello olives. I love them.

GameOfJones · 19/03/2025 14:23

Going to bed early with a good book on my Kindle.

Using the paint by numbers app on my phone is weirdly relaxing.

Bubble bath and some nice smelling bar soap applied with scrubby exfoliating gloves.

A really good loaf of fresh bread and some proper salted butter.

Treating myself to a coffee in a café.

Buying the individual portions of brie from M&S and a box of posh crackers.

Trying new serums and moisturisers from TK Maxx. I use micellar water, face wash, serum and moisturiser every day but am not loyal to any brand. I go to TK Maxx and buy whichever one looks nicest for the £5 to £7 range and then use that until it is time to go and try a new one.

They do taste better I had a box at the weekend and they are far superior to the bags.

My little luxury is nice handcream I currently have some M&S on the go.

Love aldi hand wash and their candles

mommatoone · 19/03/2025 14:29

Sleep mask. Nothing fancy, cheapo from amazon but it's my relaxation at the end of the day. It's made a huge difference to my sleep 😴

TianasBayou · 19/03/2025 14:33

Nespresso compatible coffee pods. And I recycle the pods in my local Costa, which makes me smile too. No spend on takeaways AND they do my my recycling Grin

Sourisblanche · 19/03/2025 14:35

Clotted cream. I make a lot of scones and it’s so much nicer than whipped double cream.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 19/03/2025 14:40

My nail wraps
Maltesers
Ballycastle 😂
Birdseed, seeing so many in my garden makes me smile

BigDahliaFan · 19/03/2025 14:40

Nice cheese. A good strong cheddar - though I'm not sure that counts as cheap anymore. Little slivers eaten from the packet out of the fridge....

Nice handcream.

Bar soap from TK Max lasts ages and smells lovely.
