Testogel benefits

My gynaecologist, with a specialism in menopause, has prescribed me estradot patches, utrogestan tablets & testogel to rub a pea sized on skin daily.

Does anybody else use testogel who could tell me the benefits they’ve felt since using this please?

It’s stopped my scalp itching, made it less dry, my hair loss has stopped. Exercise seems possible. Exhausted less often. Driving has improved massively.

I feel much more like ‘me’ on the testosterone. It’s a weird one but prior i cba with the things I used to really care about like doing my hair or make up. With the testosterone I feel my confidence has improved and I now care about my appearance (not in an extreme way but I actually look in the mirror and brush my hair!). Prior I just don’t have it in me to give a damn but equally I missed feeling like myself. I feel much more in touch with my body too and have more energy for life in general.

How quickly did you see these benefits? I ordered some from Superdrug but haven't used it yet.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I was reluctant to start it, but not sure why.

I’m quite excited about it now I’ve heard your views balancing the only ones I’ve heard of ‘you’ll go bald, but grow a beard’…

I was on it for 12 months, I felt no benefits at all really so I stopped. I was told by my GP that may only be effective at helping brain fog, libido etc in ~40% of women. I dont know the actual % term.

I was also very carefully monitored and advised to go to a pea sized amount every two days after my level shot right up after a few months of using it.

Side effects - very hairy legs (it was applied to inner thighs), I got stubble rash frequently on my bare legs which was painful. My arms and arm pits also got very hairy. This has since decreased since I stopped taking it.

Weight gain - I gained over a stone very quickly and have had to take Mounjaro to help reverse this loss.

Two useful papers here:

Thank you @chipsticksmammy - I’ll take a look of those papers.

I have a follow-up next month and will have bloods every 3 months thereafter.

Interested to hear people’s experiences.

You’re welcome, good luck. I’m always hopeful it works for people as HRT has been such a minefield to navigate 💐

I saw changes to libido pretty quick, I think around 2 weeks. Changes to how I felt generally were more subtle maybe a couple of months.
I also noticed that I’ve become more hairy but not in an extreme way just in the way I was prior to menopause. I rotate the site I apply it to which helps avoid getting hair growth in one area. I’ve had no changes in weight but assume it’s different for everyone. Hope it helps
