Recommendations for putting household furniture into self-storage?

I have sold my house and need somewhere to store my furniture for a few months whilst hunting for a new home. Would you recommend indie or chain self-storage? Any in particular you highly recommend?

I have nothing but praise for Store First. Good offers, accessible 24/7.

My removals company did it. It all got packed into big wooden crates which were stored in their warehouse until I was ready to get it back. Half of it came back to me, and I got them to deliver the rest to my local auction house so I could sell it. It worked really well.

@unsync is your removals firm a national one? That sounds exactly what I need too.

@Gotback unfortunately not, but if you are in East Anglia, I can give you details.

@unsync Peterborough. Maybe too far west? We get Southern tv in front room & Anglia in the back!

Peterborough is probably too far out, however check out your local, family run removal companies, especially if they do overseas removals. I think it's a fairly common service for certain types of client.

It depends on what you’re looking for: if you just want something quick and simple, then a big chain works fine. But if you live in London and want a good price plus more modern conditions, I’d suggest checking out https://www.holdstorage.co.uk. I stored a few pieces of furniture and some boxes there, and I really liked that everything was done online – request, quote, booking – all in just a few minutes.

Been in the same boat not too long ago mate. Had to stash me furniture somewhere safe while waitin on the new place. Ended up using Henfield Storage down London way, proper helpful lot and didn’t charge daft prices either. Place was clean, easy to get to, and they even helped me lug a few bits in. Can’t fault em tbh. You sortin yours long term or just a few months like me?

signed up with henfield storage last week tbh, been alright so far. they had a half-price first month thing which helped ‘cause moving’s already bleeding my wallet. nothing fancy but clean, easy access, and no one breathing down your neck trying to sell extras.
