Root canal

I am having root canal done and I have been told it is just one appointment lasting 2 hours. I was shocked because usually they are over a couple of appointments because I've had this before so when I checked where I was going and asked them they said ended on tests do it over one appointment and your own dentist does it over a couple of appointments because he is not an endodontist so he needs to split

Has as anybody had this done in one go and although I'm quite okay with the treatment the only thing that I'm not looking forward to is keeping my mouth open for a couple of hours because the longer you keep your mouth open your jaw will ache and I don't like that

I've had them done in one go. Ask for a "bite block". It's a wedge shaped piece of rubber they can put between your upper and lower teeth to hold your mouth open. I always ask for one, they're a huge help.

Good luck.

How far back is the tooth? My dentist did a couple nearer the front in one appointment each, but I have recently had one on a molar near the back at the endo and that was 2 appointments.

It is the tooth in front of the wisdom tooth

I think each endodontist works differently if you're endodontists did yours into appointments that doesn't mean to say they will all do it like that and as for the bike block I don't think that's going to help me with the pain in the jaw because I'm perfectly capable of holding my mouth open it's just the jaw pain that I'm concerned about

I really would prefer it to be done in two appointments but if they won't it's not a lot I can do about it and I need the two's done

I found the rubber block really helpful, it was more comfortable to hold my mouth "closed" against the block than to keep holding my mouth open. We are all different though.
