Struggling a bit

We're currently on a bit of a house arrest. Eldest(3) has chicken pox and not all scabbed over so is still contagious

We like to go out as a family. But 1) he's contagious and 2) not got much energy bless him so we have been in 3 days solid so far

I struggle with this , we have the garden for getting outside etc but we'd go to public places and he loves going out and about too

He's waking early and light sleeping and our youngest (1) is light sleeping too so we're stuck in i feel shattered it's a bit tough and it's hard because he's asking can we got to the playground, play centre etc all fun stuff and he doesn't get he's contagious etc

And I don't love screentime but as the day goes on he get so tired and lays down he has some telly and I feel so guilty about it

Nothing wrong with watching TV when you’re poorly, it encourages rest, which is what he needs.

Bloody hell you feel guilty about your poorly child watching TV?

What do you feel like doing when you’re feeling off colour and shattered? Flopping in front of the tv I suspect

Agreed on the screen time, sometimes screen time is absolutely necessary because it’s just comforting! Chicken pox feel like a forever thing and they’re something that take up so much of your time because they’re always there until you suddenly realise they’ve totally eased. One step in front of the other and you’ll get there (Ps I know you’re probably not looking for advice but oats in a sock and wash child with them in the bath, was the only soothing thing for the kids)

Yes sorry I've always felt guilty about any and I'm not restricting it right now as like i say he gets tired in the afternoon and just wants to lay down

Thanks for the oats tip I'll try this as he's got really itchy the last day or so and I can see it's irritating we've got calamine lotion but he's erupted so must be so itchy

And surely you can still go out with your youngest if you have your eldest’s dad around?

Dubbbss1 · 15/03/2025 06:50

Eldest dad has been working he's off tomorrow and yes we can nip out with youngest then

Again tomorrow is soon but just been long days
