Buying on Vinted

I am using Vinted for the 1st time and post purchase the buyer has offered to send (the relatively expensive item) by recorded delivery at no extra cost if I provide my address.

Is this a good idea? I don't know if it is still covered by Vinted's purchase protection if I do this. Dos anyone know?

I wouldn't , sounds a bit odd!

That's what I thought but the seller has a lot of good feedback so I didn't think it was likely to be a scam. Does anyone else know?

As a buyer, you usually cover the cost - in my experience as a seller

sugarandplum · 13/03/2025 21:19

I wouldn't do it.

Stick to Vinted policy and processes or you won't be covered when the product fails to arrive.

You shouldn't need to give your address as they should have a label generated already.

Be careful, lots of great sellers on Vinted but there are also a few trying to make easy money through scams

No, don’t do it. Every time I’ve sold something the buyer had purchased a shipping label via vinted and I just print it out.

Sounds dodgy to me.

Vinted scams, although what you describe isn’t listed.

I’d still go through official channels. You buy a label on bi ted, which they’ll receive and download.

Seller won't have a choice. Vinted send her the postage label

Annoyingsquirrels · 13/03/2025 21:33

Thanks all. Have told the seller to send through Vinted.

The seller will have to send it via the selected method of posting. They will have a code to scan to print out the label and then they'll receive a receipt if sending by Evri, or if sending by In Post lockers, they have to scan a code and put the parcel in the locker. Only the is the parcel registered as posted, and it's progress is tracked.

If they send by recorded delivery, how would they prove to Vinted that had sent it? The receipt would be of no use if it's not the selected method of posting - it won't be accepted.
