Am I the only one not enjoying Nick Grimshaw on Radio 6

It feels too Radio 1, maybe a bit Radio 2 - the songs are too pop and he is bloody annoying - it's just me isn't it? - Where should I go for a better breakfast radio experience - better tunes?

I prefer him to Lauren (now I'm second guessing if it was her show he's sitting in for) but I still preferred Shaun Keveney (I know I've misspelt that). And still miss RadMac in the afternoon.

I could put up with him being annoying if his tunes were good but they feel so mainstream - I don't understand the choice - he feels like a perfect fit for Radio 2 - I expect he thought Radio 2 wasn't cool enough.

I agree. I miss Lauren hugely. He's just not 6music. He's doing better than when he was a stand in. The whole hour of cloud busting is my main hour that I listen. Before he did a talking crap bit for Aaaages around 7.40am which annoyed me I had to stop listening.

It's also an age gap thing. He's a millennial and uses tons of language I don't relate to. He's probably a nice lad but he's not for me. Lauren made me feel understood. I am from same bit of the world and same age ish.

He's all a bit...zany/high energy which definitely more radio 1 breakfast show style.

I miss Shaun Keaveny.

almost never listen to 6music anymore. Seems to be wall-to-wall Craig Charles and he makes my flesh creep.

Awww lovely Shaun...yes that was awful letting him go. I don't mind Craig these days. He plays some good music. He's grown on me.

I like Chris Hawkins too and the Welsh dude. Name escapes me.... sodding menopause Brian fog.

I was so relieved when we reached post-10 this morning with Lauren, Nick seemed very pleased with his "post" 10 thing he mentioned it several times - it was so annoying. There is no point to Six Music if it's just more Radio 2.

Huw Stephens. I like him too. I like Craig Charles though.
Im glad Lauren Laverne is on later as I’m never up in time for breakfast show. I only listen in the car.

Up early today so I've had a Chris Hawkins fix. 😊

I have to turn Radio 6 off now in ht morning. Who chose NG to host the breakfast show. He stands out like a saw thumb amongst the other intelligent, musically aware presenters. Like having an affected teenager on air.

Yeah, I'm afraid I've still not warmed too him. Doesn't feel like a good fit. I'm sure he's a nice guy but he grates on me.

I miss Lauren. Only hear her when I WFH and go and make a cuppa now.

I agree the quiet subversion of Sean K is a loss. I'm over on Radio 3 for breakfast though.

I utterly hate him. Sorry to say it but I can’t stand the tone of voice and hissy put on intonations. Give me anyone else. Any time of day. Having spent 25 years in the fashion industry the last thing I need to hear on the radio is this.

I know cloud busting is any genre but I listen btw 7.30-8.30 ( if I can bear it) and the choices are bizarre. Like a radio 1 and 2 mix but not a 6 music one.

I’m glad it’s not just me, I’m also a huge Shaun Keaveney fan and liked Lauren but this - it’s all wrong. Him, his chat, the music.

Never mind the obsessive smoke blowing during the run up to Glastonbury, it was painful.

I’m really enjoying it. I love his podcast with Annie Macmanus too. Also liking Huw Stephens far more that Steve Lamaq.

The music in the mornings doesn’t seem to have noticeablely changed as far as I can tell.

I do wish they would scrap off the terrible ‘new music’ thing with Deb Grant and Nathan in the evenings though. New seems to be a euphemism for ‘hard to listen to’. A lot of it just sounds like toddlers banging radiators.

I rather like the new music shows! Some of the stuff I’ve heard on there has made it to my must listen to lists 😂

Also a big fan of Huw, now he’d be fab for the breakfast show I reckon.
