What's the worst gift you've ever given?

Just remembered years ago when I was invited to the baby shower of an acquaintance, not even sure why as I wouldn't have described us as friends. I was in my teens, hadn't been to one before (I now decline them as I hate them) and actually had no clue what it even was.

Anyway I thought I was being really clever and bought the mum a digital photo frame to display pictures of her baby. My logic was that she would have received loads of baby stuff so she might like something different.

I now realise that it was a crap gift and that actually the whole point of the event was that she wanted people to give her baby stuff.

Have you ever given (or received) any bad gifts?

Oh I'd have liked that gift!

Nothing wrong with that gift. Also very generous.

That's a great gift op!

That's a very weird thing to think of as a 'crap' gift, surely you must know that is a great and thoughtful gift? It's not technically for the baby but I don't think that matters when it's a good gift? It's not like you bought a rolling pin or a new bikini or something.

My worst was an expensive bag that she probably didn't even like which still makes me cringe but I had no clue what to get for a big birthday.

Tickets for Hamilton.

My folks love going to shows/musicals.
But not this one, they walked out after less than an hour.

Ooh glad people would have liked it! I've often looked back on this and thought how they must have been laughing at the girl who came to a baby shower and didn't buy a baby gift

@JaneIves I LOVE Hamilton and would have happily received tickets!!

I was invited to drinks as a get together of a colleague a few days before her wedding. I was 16 and this was a part time evening job after college.

I had a last minute panic that being invited to drinks meant I was expected to buy a wedding gift. I couldn’t afford a decent present and I didn’t have time to find something nice so I gave her a scruffy old £10 B&Q gift voucher my dad had shoved in a drawer left over from Christmas.

I still cringe about it.

I think this was an amazing gift and they've definitely used it! I personally prefer making Smartshow 3d slideshows with photos but I know plenty of people that have digital photo frames and like to keep the pictures on display
