Anyone know the ins and outs of this quirky software?

I use libre office which is not massively different to ms office, the only thing it is less good at is track changes if you are sharing with someone using word.

If you can use office you can use libre office.

Honestly unless your work is paying for it, there's no need to use Microsoft.

Open Office is great. We started trialling it years ago at a head office where I worked in the IT Dept.

With over 1000 employees though it took all the time up of help desk and support going round to show people how to use it.

Bad decision on a company part. For an individual it's very similar to MS.

It was 20 years ago we trialled it!

I also use Libre Office. Very little difference between MS products (apart from price) and it is just as powerful. I would go for that over OpenOffice because it is better supported and updated more regularly.

Plus one for Libre Office 👍
