Too early to pack?

I have an unexpected day off work and nothing much to do. I don't want to waste the day and we are going away in 5 weeks time, is it too early to do my holiday ironing and pack it in the cases? Will it get more creased if it's folded and rolled for longer? I usually do it the weekend before.
Thanks for your help

Not at all. I iron and fold clothes that might not be worn for a few weeks and as long as they are well folded, they look as fresh as the day they were ironed.
You should certainly get your packing done today if you want.
Have a great holiday.

My only worry would be whether you can remember what you've packed, and so avoid having a last minute panic where you have to take everything out to check and end up with a jumbled mess (that would be me).

TimeForSprings · 13/03/2025 10:40

Personally, yes. Far too early. But id need some of those clothes - pants, bras, teeshirts, plus bathroom stuff in those 5 weeks, so not much to put in a case!

Worldgonecrazy · 13/03/2025 10:42

Ha! I’m going on holiday in October and am already thinking about what to pack. It’s never too early. Most of my holiday wardrobe is non-crease, which makes life easier.

TheChosenTwo · 13/03/2025 10:44

I pack the day I go on holiday (or the night before if I will be Leaving my house before 10am on the day) so this is nuts to me!
But lots of people do it. I don’t iron anything so no idea if it’ll all looked buggered by the time you get there.
You’re not likely to need the clothes between now and then (if you live in the U.K. and are going somewhere warmer) so it’s not like you’re going to be without desperately needed clothes!

Topseyt123 · 13/03/2025 10:46

I never pack until the day before, although anything needing washed will already have been done before then. I don't do ironing at all. Ever.

So for me yes, it would be way too early and I would be needing the clothes in the meantime too.

DecafDodger · 13/03/2025 10:46

way too early, and unless you have a very specific holiday only wardrobe, chances are family members will need just that specific t-shirt you have carefully packed

lovingtheworld · 13/03/2025 10:48

Its 5 weeks away op you have plenty of time so put your feet up and have today for youself.
That being said me and my husband have all week and next week to our self and we said today we will start de-cluttering and sort everything out now we have the time.
We are still in our pjs cuddling on the sofa.
Husband said we are in our 50s now we need to slow down.
I think we should make coffee and relax and pretend we have done it.😂

Nope. We're going on holiday in the easter holidays, and I'm starting to prep stuff.

Not clothes, but that's because we have a week to week routine, but swimming stuff, dedicated holiday stuff, all the bits and bobs, that's already started.

CharlotteCChapel · 13/03/2025 11:05

I'm off in 4 weeks but won't start packing until I know what the weather will be like. The UK in April can be really hot or cod and wet.

I'm exactly the same. And end up taking way more than needed as I can't remember what else is in there

Mach3 · 13/03/2025 11:44

Day before obviously.

Although I do write a comprehensive list and know that everything I want is clean and ironed.

Five weeks before is madness.

Bjorkdidit · 13/03/2025 11:58

Anything more than 5 days is insanity.

Its a nice day. Don't waste it on chores. Go out for lunch, a walk, visit some museums and galleries, go to the shops, anything that you like to do.

Travelcrazy · 13/03/2025 12:19

Thanks for the replies I have ironed everything ready and put it on the bed in the spare room so at least that part is done! Will now pack it a few days before!
