I've done something a bit daft, come help me fix it

Long story short I made a loan application for quite a lot (to me) of money, I didn't really expect to get it because my credit rating is shot, but apparently I did as the money's just been paid to me about 2 hours after making the application.

I am really stressed in general due to life stresses so I was dreaming of booking a few days away, it was just a dream to help cope with the stress, but I took it too far.

I can't really afford the repayments.

Anyone want to help calm my racing mind until I can decide how I fix this?

Contact the loan company and ask if it can be cancelled? There might be a cooling off period. Check the terms and conditions.

With most financial products there's a 14 day cooling off period - check to see if that applies here?

ohyesido · 12/03/2025 20:05

Is there a cooling off period? Check the terms, you should be able to return it with no penalty within a certain time frame. But you need to act quickly

Livinggently · 12/03/2025 20:05

Yes! Don’t do it! There will be a cooling off period so you can send the money back no problems.

Is it a payday loan?

BiggestMistakeMade · 12/03/2025 20:08

Thank you all scanning the documents now to see if theres a cooling off period and how I repay it if so!

Fingers crossed!

For the love of God herself don't spend it! Just transfer the money back.

Vitrolinsanity · 12/03/2025 20:20

Although to be fair I'd be on the first plane to Thailand and pay it back forever.

DO NOT DO THIS Grin

BiggestMistakeMade · 12/03/2025 20:21

Looks like I need to ring them tomorrow to see how I repay it, but there is a cooling off period of 14 days as expected. I've stuck the money in an account I don't use and can repay from that card tomorrow.

Thank you everyone. Still stressed due to life but less worried about this loan now

Thought I'd update:

I spoke to a lovely lady on the phone as soon as they opened at 8am, paid back most of the money and have kept a small amount that I can afford to repay as a buffer which is what my stress level needs. I can always repay it early too.

Thanks for the help when I was in full blown panic last night.
