Why am I so mentally exhausted?

Is it hormones? I'm 40, and definitely have some signs of peri. I genuinely have lost the drive to work or do anything that needs my brain in the past 2 weeks. Physical energy I'm OK, yes I was tired this morning but managed to do a 45min spinning class and a 30min HIIT type class.

I kind of want to sleep, but know I wouldn't manage to.

Yes I tend to be iron deficient, and I have started to develop some of the neurological symptoms so I probably need an infusion.

I'm also hypothyroid but it's under control.

So if I understand correctly you are not sleeping well and you are iron deficient and you wonder why you are exhausted ? Is that it?

I'm sleeping normally if not more. Low iron doesn't make me fed with life. It just gives me twitching eye lids

I think it is peri related. I'm 43 and feeling much the same.

Looking round my house today and berating myself because I haven't had any energy or motivation to tidy it! I'm annoyed at myself. Yet I'm still sat on the sofa watching shit on tv

I started taking magnesium about 6 months ago but ran out so I shall def get some more.. it made a difference I think

Are you taking ferrous sulphate? How’s your B12?

I don't absorb iron via my gut. All markers are fine (or were) last summer when I first developed psoriasis.

As another poster mentioned my motivation for more day to day activities has gone down the drain
