How do i sterilise earrings?

I’ve bought some titanium earrings from Amazon (I know, I know)
I just wanted something cheap and hopefully hypoallergenic for everyday use.

Does anyone know how to clean them properly before I put them in?

Warm soapy water, then alcohol.

Thank you. Will alcohol wipes work? Like the ones you get in a first aid box?

Am I missing something? Why do they need to be sterilised?

Yes the ones you get in a first aid box. Or a mug of boiling water?

@biscuitsandbooks Yes seems strange, but perhaps she has particularly sensitive ears or is only recently pierced.

Dip them in some TCP or surgical spirit.

Unless they are second hand I don't see why you need to sterilise them, yes alcohol wipes work, as would a piece of kitchen roll dampened with vodka

@JellyComb maybe! I just don't see that any "at home" method of sterilising is going to be particularly effective 🙈

No need to sterilise unless your ears are newly pierced and healing. I would just wash well in a strong saline solution if you’re really concerned (salt water). No need for special products.

Waterlilysunset · 12/03/2025 11:31

You can get alcohol solution from boots

ExtraDecluttering · 12/03/2025 11:31

Handgel?
