I love my en-suite and have no problem buying from MLM and can’t understand the hate.

What else?
Cyclists?

@Tumblingthroughmoving from MLM to MLM is normal while they are under the impression that another MLM will be better than the one they’re in. They don’t realise the whole business model is a scam not just the individual companies. There was a documentary called The Secrets of the Multilevel Millionaires on BBC which was all about Younique. I don’t think it’s on iPlayer anymore but it might be available somewhere, it was well worth a watch.

This - the MLMs are very good at convincing their victims that not making money is their fault.

It is very common for people not making money to bounce through multiple MLMs desperately looking for the holy grail of one that actually makes money.

It is also very common for people to stay in and struggle for years, particularly if they have another source of income (job, spouse, parents). The MLM tells them and tells them and tells them that not making money is their fault and that if they just do this, do that, pay for this course, pay for this retreat, they will start making money. Of course, they never do.

Also, just to mention - that’s another sign MLMs are a scam - they charge for training. Legitimate companies pay for training and pay for their employee’s time while training.

I understand why some people are skeptical about MLMs, especially after hearing negative stories. But, as I read on this page about MLM-related lawsuits, not all companies are the same and some actually follow the rules. Maybe if people were better informed, they’d be more open-minded.

What a bizarre page to link to

En suites are fine as an idea imo. But often they are squeezed into the corner of a bedroom, no space, and get damp. A proper well designed, spacious and well ventilated en suite is lovely.

Surely dislike for MLMs is obvious?

I have done the research - extensively. I consider myself very well informed on the subject.

The laws around MLMs are weak and even if not a single law is broken, almost everyone loses money.

It’s not ‘open minded’ to believe in MLM promises, it’s gullible and foolish. I could see why people would fall for it 30 years ago when the internet didn’t exist in its current format but today even basic googling brings up the truth.

Understanding Multi-Level Marketing

Multi-level marketing (MLM), also known as direct marketing or network marketing, is a method of selling products directly to consumers using independent sales representatives. MLM companies tend to appeal to new recruits with promises of wealth and i...

@lemontart13and what specifically are the rules that the “good” MLMs follow? Can you describe the distinction between the rule followers and the MLMs who don’t? Can you name an MLM company that you would say follows the rules?

I’d be interested in an example because I have yet to find an MLM company that does not mislead recruits and relies on sales to people outside the scheme and does not reward uplines for downlines’ PURCHASES (rather than downlines’ SALES to real customers). It’s not a case of being closed or open minded even if that’s what your MLM has told you.

SALaw · 20/05/2025 00:17

Everyone I have ever known who has started an MLM has spent months / years telling everyone on social media how rich they are, how much free time they have because they are their own boss and how unlike a pyramid scheme their particular MLM is. They have then all at some point promptly stopped selling and never mentioned the wonderful products again.

NerdyBird · 20/05/2025 01:07

There’s a decent amount of anti-mlm content on YouTube. I like Hannah Alonzo. It’s quite interesting to hear all the ways they try and pretend it’s some amazing business oppo and not a pyramid scheme!

En suites = shitting in your own bedroom and hearing your partner do so 😕

En-suites are not in your bedroom. Do you know what en-suites are?

Why is an en-suite any different to a bathroom right next to your bedroom? They are a whole separate room. There isn’t loo in your bedroom. I can’t even see my en-suite door from my bed as it’s around corner.

I’ve been in houses where the bathroom is next to the bedroom and you can hear everything through he wall. Why does this feel any different to you?

I have seen "open plan" ensuites where the toilet is in the bedroom, and I think that's all kinds of wrong and literally is shitting in your bedroom.
For normal ensuites with walls and doors,(which most are) I don't have an issue at all!
