I'm Welsh. Ours is already perfect.

Never gonna give you up

AlternativeView · 09/03/2025 18:28

Not for the UK!

Probably hero's David Bowie to all the hero's of our past who make our future now and I'm not just going back as far as the two ww, but also the peasants the barons and anyone with no power (under stand barons did but they went to King John) who picked up a bayonet and went to protest and war.

Op did you know they are playing in Hyde Park this year I'd love to go

LastNightMyPJsSavedMyLife · 09/03/2025 18:35

@luckylavender I agree. Cymru am byth

biscuitandcake · 09/03/2025 18:38

Wallace and Gromit theme tune.

AndInTheEnd · 09/03/2025 18:45

[awaits Govt policy wonk spotting this thread, proposing new Sporting Anthem Public Vote for England, resigns self to lifetime of Sweet Caroline before every international]

Littletreefrog · 09/03/2025 18:51

We went to an international cricket match featuring England and they played Jerusalem which was quite nice as I remembered all the words from school.

beguilingeyes · 09/03/2025 18:54

Waterloo Sunset

HolyMerlot · 09/03/2025 19:00

I'm also Welsh so absolutely no need to change ours 😁 but if I HAD to, then probably Calon Lan. Seems an obvious choice but I love it anyway. Failing that can it be Its Not Unusual by Sir Tom 😂

Maitri108 · 09/03/2025 19:03

Bohemian Rhapsody.

Spidey66 · 09/03/2025 19:03

We were talking about this today due to the Rugby!

I'd love Jerusalem for England. I'm Irish descent.....maybe Danny Boy for Ireland.

Cheepcheepcheep · 09/03/2025 19:07

A few years ago DH commented that Never Forget by Take That would be a perfect national anthem and I will stand by this until the day I die. (We’re English).

igivein · 09/03/2025 19:08

Billy Connolly nailed this years ago. He said the British National anthem is a depressing dirge and we should replace it with Barwick Green (theme tune for The Archers) 😁

LegoLandslide · 09/03/2025 19:11

There's a folk song knocking around - A Place Called England. The Young Uns did a really good version. That gets my vote for new national anthem!

(Originally by Maggie Holland btw)

Iheartmysmart · 09/03/2025 19:12

Fun Boy Three - The Lunatics (Have Taken Over The Asylum).

ObliviousCoalmine · 09/03/2025 19:14

Archers theme tune or Wallace and Gromit. The only sane choices.

JustTryingToBeHappy · 09/03/2025 19:16

That song that was circling tiktok a few years ago- "on a scale from one to ten, my friend, you're fucked"

SomersetBrie · 09/03/2025 19:18

I'm Irish and I quite like the rugby anthem Ireland's call.

I'd like Jerusalem for England (I live here) but not really into saving the king/queen.

Another Welshie here. This! Gives me bloody goosebumps.

deeahgwitch · 09/03/2025 19:59

I'm Irish. I like ours and Ireland's Call though I have to listen to dh grumbling about Ireland's Call at every rugby international we attend.
I love the Welsh, Scottish and French National anthems.
Not keen on the Italian one at all- for a country famous for its music it sounds out of tune to my ears when played at rugby internationals.
Not keen on the English one either. Sorry
