Housewarming gift ideas

What are the best housewarming gifts you've received or given? My relative has just bought their first house and I'm looking for ideas or something useful but not boring!

For their first house, B&Q vouchers.

If they've been living in a shared house before now, then an aluminium step ladder or a step stool. Maybe that's just me as a short person but that was my immediate need. And a small bucket. Or garden equipment (trowel, secateurs, etc).

If they have a garden somewhere bulbs to plant in the autumn. Then every spring they have a nice display.

Yes, vouchers for somewhere that stocks homewards and DIY stuff, so they can buy anything from a stepladder to a kitchen bin. I would personally love a houseplant (something unkillable like a sedum) or bulbs or a shrub for the garden. You can get inexpensive bare root things this time of year, even trees.

Ask them what they need and get that. Plus a really nice bottle of olive oil and wine.

Thanks everyone, leaning towards something for the garden.

Bump to help anyone else reply to this! I’m not the OP but I want to ask the same thing- I have a work colleague who has recently bought her first house (living alone). I don’t know her well but she’s been enormously supportive of me recently so I’d like to get something budget friendly (£30 or less?) which would be useful in her new place

Some wine glasses?
