Cameras for inside house

I'm looking to get a couple of cameras so I can check on my dogs when I'm out, they're never left for too long but would still like to check on them. We don't have any tech set up at home, have decent broadband, I use Samsung (phone, tablet, washing machine and fridge) but dh is an Apple user. Would like to eventually set our heating, lighting and alarm up to use remotely but have absolutely no idea where to start.

I use Tapo cameras for indoors and outdoors, easy to set up, not expensive, good image quality and there is a whole range of other stuff they make too.

Another vote for Tapo, cost about £25 and the picture is amazing

As long as you don't end up watching your family members without them knowing! That's what would freak me out.

I use eufy for my inside cams (and doorbell)

I use the ring indoor cams x

You also need to be aware of how hackable your setup is too.
So if you have teens handing out your wifi password to friends etc .....

We use blink.

Tapo are brilliant - inexpensive, really easy to set up and you don’t need to buy a subscription, you can just get a microSD card. I have one aimed at the cat food bowls, so I can check that they haven’t run out of food, and see when they’ve been in and out.

I also have Tapo plugs which are great for turning on lights, electric blanket etc.

We have Tapo cameras for the dogs when we go out, they are really simple to use.
We unplug them when we are at home!

Thank you, looks like Tapo is the popular one. There's only dh and myself so I've no fear of the WiFi password being shared as a pp mentioned. I live heard of 'nest' system for operating heating, lighting etc but that's for another day.

I have Tapo plugs and light bulbs that are all controlled by the same app as the camera.

Stressybetty · 10/03/2025 17:46

We have Phillips Hue cameras and lights all managed in their app
