Useful tips to cinch the waist on boys tracksuit pants?

Most track suit pants I am buying are far too big around the waist for my boys. I tried tying the cord but that doesn’t really work and other than hand stitching them in at the back I can’t think of another way to do it.

Are there are any helpful tips or tools anyone can suggest to help please?

Thread thin elastic through the waist cord channel and sew it down between the side seams (tiny cuts on the inside just at the sides will be enough). Use a safety pin to thread it through. That way the elastic will stretch as he grows

That is an excellent suggestion! Thank you!

We have a skinny, tall child with the same problem. I buy spring loaded toggles and pop one on each of the cords so they stay tight when he tightens them.

How old is your son? I soon realised that women's joggers often had smaller waists but still the length in the leg, Last time I went for size 6 women's joggers and they fit perfectly. Only lasted until he was 14.

If your son is much younger then Zara joggers often had smaller waists for boys than other high street stores.

He’s just turned 11 so not yet ready for ladies joggers. Toggles are another Brilliant idea. Why did I not think of these?
