So I took my daughter to specsavers today it's her first visit she's 8, her vision is perfect BUT they took photos of the back of her eye and think her optic nerve has pressure on it and has been referred to the clinic at the hospital. She told me not to worry but she put it Thur has urgent which of course im now worried!! Any anyone been Thur this? Is this a common thing?

Try not to panic. It’s standard practice to check this symptom out quickly. In my case it was caused by excess fluid. You might be at the clinic a while as they do a number of tests., I had a lot of eye tests. Then a scan I think and my spinal fluid level was measured in my case. Has she had headaches at all? I had none so was surprised this came up.

Sometimes a persons optic nerve can appear to look "abnormal" in appearance. As the optician is seeing her for the first time and has no reference to previous images then they will refer the patient as "urgent" just in very small chance it is something more serious.

I wouldn't worry as I'm assuming your daughter doesn't have any symptoms. If she did have symptoms indicative of something more serious they may have referred as an emergency.

But good news that she had an eye test and the optician was competent enough to refer correctly.
