Holiday plans: don't forget to check your passport expiry and renew if necessary

Every year there are posts from stressed people who've realised, a little too late, that their (or their child's) passport has expired or doesn't have enough time remaining on it.

Now might seem like a great time to check everyone's passports and make sure there is enough time left on them (many countries require 3-6 months of unexpired passport - Europe is typically 3 months, US possibly 6 months).

"Do not book travel until you have a valid passport - your new passport will not have the same number as your old one."

Bumping this to encourage people to check that their / family passports are good to go for 2025 holidays.

Processing times are currently about 3 weeks https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-passport-office/about/about-our-services#processing-times-in-the-uk
