Would you be making a series about petals and spaghetti or doing something useful?

I watched about 3 minutes of it.

Yeah right - they didn’t want to be seen, it was all very low key 😂 oh, and the face masks were off for much of the time.

She loves publicity - without it, she has no brand.

And it's a terrible thing, to get publicity relating to something like the disaster appeals for the fires? The people running that campaign will have hated that attention was drawn to their work by Harry and Meghan's presence and they they got additional media coverage? It's a bad thing for the charity, publicity?

hotpotlover · 07/03/2025 18:43

Well, according to that standard a lot of things don't deserve to be televised.

I find it interesting and so do others.

It doesn't have to be everyone's cup of tea - that's why there is a huge variety of different things to watch on Netflix.

"Sun tea"

No one helped more because harry and meghan wafted around

There were famous people actually helping with their hands not swanning about offering hugs on camera

BasiliskStare · 08/03/2025 19:41

@CurlewKate - I love Marina Hyde both written and in the podcast she does with Richard Osman "And the rest is Entertainment " , if you haven't heard that. But if you like her I am sure you are all over that.

And yet you're aware of it because they were there. Which is a win for the charity.

Mydogisamassivetwat · 08/03/2025 20:09

Honestly?

I’d never be off my arse. I’d do fuck all.

SirChenjins · 08/03/2025 21:25

The publicity was for them. The charity was too busy working with the volunteers who turned up for days on end to help out, rather than H&M pitching up to have their photo taken.

If nothing else, it does show they are still very much putting themselves in the public eye despite your earlier claim - they have to, otherwise they would fade into the background.

I was sort of disinterested in her tbh. But it turns my stomach. How do they live with themselves? They could quietly achieve a great deal.

And yet you claim I'm not interested in her or being horrible about her.

Just let it be. She doesn't need to live rent free in your head if you don't let her.

rohn · 08/03/2025 22:23

Watching it now and actually really enjoying it

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 08/03/2025 22:36

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 07/03/2025 09:45

Please remember that not watching her and not posting about her is also an option.

But her face and video clips are being bombarded at us by all media outlets

QueenOfHiraeth · 08/03/2025 22:39

I'm just a bit bemused by the changing narratives - I'm a feminist / I'm a tradwife wafting about in pretty clothes; I grew up on TV dinners / I had good farm to fork food; etc.
Her friendships don't seem real and I'm not sure she would know the truth if it jumped up and bit her on the arse

If I had access to the whole of the Internet would I use my time to make bitchy comments about people who aren't in anyway hurting anyone? No. I would not.

I only ever hear about her on MN, has it occurred to you to consider a better standard of media?

CurlewKate · 09/03/2025 07:45

@Unexpectedlysinglemum "But her face and video clips are being bombarded at us by all media outlets"

Are they? I watched a clip or two on TicToc out of curiosity-I now just scroll past. Nothing on my X or BlueSky feeds. Or on FB. I don't watch GB News. I happily avoid RF content generally except on here unless it's something with posh frocks, sparkly tiaras or horses.

Thats not true. Ask her current staff (including senior colleagues), past staff and colleagues in Canada, UK and US. Ask her agents, frinds and family about her behaviour.

iseenyouwithkefir · 11/03/2025 22:28

I'd be doing what I wanted. If that meant a series about petals and spaghetti, and someone would make it, then go on.

I actually think she's landed on something that hits the zeitgeist in the USA at the moment with this new series. People want soothing, simple, easy, nostalgic, comfortable, beautiful, aesthetically pleasing. Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson have a new podcast launching tomorrow, and they're doing their best to make it sound as apolitical and woo-woo self-helpy as possible which of course is not the case.

I also agree that while the Sussexes have millions, it may not seem like millions in terms of disposable income given what they likely consider non-negotiable expenses (e.g., security). so that might speak to motivation. But not to success - she still has to make a product that people want to engage with. I think it's probably too early to tell how well that's working out.

SirChenjins · 12/03/2025 08:17

They also want something to laugh at to help them forget the shitstorm that's going on around them. She's certainly giving them that.

There are broadly 4 camps - those who love her and her twee offering to the world, those who loathe her, those who are thoroughly enjoying the humour of the complete lack of self awareness, green pearls, Sussex and worldwide privacy tour, and those who couldn't care less.

You've missed a group. Those of us who don't really expend much energy thinking about her but are gobsmacked at the complete lack of self awareness of people who spend so much time and energy criticising her without even the slightest iota of understanding that their own behaviours are at least as bad as everything they are condemning her for.
Seriously. The bullying, nastiness and venom spouted tells me nothing about her but EVERYTHING about the people posting.

It also screams of a lack of intellect or critical thinking. We don't know this woman and EVERYTHING we think we know about her and others in the public eye is seen through the distorted and manipulative lens of what the media choose to show us

I'm a group 5 member too. I don't have especially strong feelings about her, certainly no more than I do about any other famous woman.
Where I am invested is in the absolutely unhinged levels of hatred some people throw her way, often based on nothing. 'Urgh, she's just always in our faces', when it's years since her last media project. 'She said she wants privacy', which she didn't, but she's made a programme. It's pure misogyny most of the time, often with more than a hint of racism, and I would always prefer less of either in the world.
This thread used Meghan as an example of a millionaire to berate. Not Musk, who is several degrees richer and doing actual harm on a global level, Meghan. Not Meghan's own husband, who was born into unimaginable wealth, Meghan.

SirChenjins · 12/03/2025 11:04

That's fine, don't spend too much time thinking about her if you don't want to.

The time spent thinking about people who think about her could probably be spent more wisely. I hear donut making is very therapeutic.

@BrightonRocket "Thats not true. Ask her current staff (including senior colleagues), past staff and colleagues in Canada, UK and US. Ask her agents, frinds and family about her behaviour"

I don't have your connections!

Dozens of staff have spoken out about witnessing or being direct victims of bullying, harrassment and belitting by Meghan.

This is all in the public domain as numerous, separate and independent investigations over many years on both sides of the Atlantic, before and after Meghans time in the UK have exposed a consistent and persistent pattern of bullying behaviour.

Just last month Vanity fair published their bullying report. Last year in The Hollywood Reporter and Access Hollywood a current, senior member of Meghans team disclosed her bullying behaviour.

Before that in the UK The Times newspaper and Coutiers a book by Valentine Low outed her behaviour with testimonies from Buckingham Palace staff.

These are all credible publications which would have been forensically legally checked before issue - but over the years of repeated reposrts there has been no legal challange back re libel / defamation from a couple who are highly litigeous with numerous court cases running simulataneously.

All online for perusal.

CurlewKate · 12/03/2025 18:31

@BrightonRocket I'm pleased you read it so I don't have to. I do hope you pursue everyone accused of bullying with the same vigour.

SirChenjins · 12/03/2025 19:32

@CurlewKate not pursuing - explaining to you that this is in the public domain and that no connections are needed.
