If you had millions like Meghan......

Would you be making a series about petals and spaghetti or doing something useful?

I watched about 3 minutes of it.

Would they have millions, without the £78m or whatever it is that Netflix has paid them? I don't know how much she made from Suits or he has from his inheritances now that the RF don't pay for everything.

There are worse things than a programme about beekeeping and pasta, TBH. It's gentle lifestyle telly, it's not supposed to be 'realistic' any more than the Saturday Kitchen is an actual kitchen, with a broken mug on the side waiting to be glued and recipes torn from magazines blu-tacked to the cupboards etc.

I'm not interested in her or being horrible about her.

It's amazing how so many aren't interested in her but are also obsessed

Don't be so silly. It was a passing thought. Its all over the place at the moment.

What's with the Meghan bashing? Loads of rich people don't contribute. Part of having money, connections etc that she built over time is that she can use it to do what she wants.

hotpotlover · 07/03/2025 10:48

I like her netflix series.

She's extremely rich and doesn't have to work a traditional 9 to 5 that's why she's got more time on her hands than "normal mums".

But the things I watched so far were interesting. The ingredients aren't very exotic, they seem easily attainable and she gave me some inspiration with her rainbow fruit platter for children and the heart shaped sandwiches.

Will keep on watching!

Bleachbum · 07/03/2025 10:48

This is what I don’t understand. Yes, they probably need to earn money to continue to fund their lifestyle and not dip into their capital (inheritance etc) too much. But there are quiet ways of doing that.

They were both very vocal about wanting to leave the UK due to overt public interest in their lives and press intrusion. So why not just go away and privately invest? Ashton Kutcher, for example, has completely stepped away from the limelight and entertainment industry by quietly investing and has made far more money by doing that than he ever did acting.

MorrisZapp · 07/03/2025 10:51

Hoppinggreen · 07/03/2025 10:36

She is an actress, presumably she enjoyed it so I can see why she would want to continue and given who she married it might not be appropriate for her to do the kind of roles she did before. Plus she wasn't great to be honest.
So by doing these lifestyle type things she still gets to act in a "safe" way

You could also ask why does Tom Cruise still make movies

Tom Cruise is box office dynamite due to his particular skills and charisma. At one point I believe he was the most bankable film star in the world. Not even slightly comparable to a TV actor turning to light housekeeping shows.

SirChenjins · 07/03/2025 10:52

No - I'd live a lovely, quiet life, pottering about with my bees and baking, and volunteering with charities behind the scenes without expecting anything in return. I'd have a bloody lovely time and I'd be so boring I wouldn't give the media anything to write about.

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/03/2025 10:53

If I had 3 million, I’d do whatever the hell I wanted to.
Is she harming anyone?

ssd · 07/03/2025 10:55

If i had her millions i hope i would float around looking beautiful in experience beige linen and do faffy things with rose petals. In a beautiful house, in the permanent sunshine, with an adoring husband and perfect kids.

Lucky bugger.

@PrincessAnne5Eva it can be!

I'm not interested in her or being horrible about her.
What does interest me is humanitarian work. And the mentality of people who have much more than enough but don't share it.
I would love to be in such a position and run and manage schemes to help people.

If you want to help people then why don't you train in a profession that would do that. Or think big and start a NGO. Or work for a charity! Or volunteer once a week. Or do a good deed once a day. Or sign up to a befriending scheme for refugees. Or do a big cook once a week for a homeless charity that hands out hot meals.
What doesn't help people is spending your time bashing MM on MN for not doing what you think she should do. Get a life!

frozendaisy · 07/03/2025 11:06

If I had all that cash I'm all for the petals and spaghetti

SwanOfThoseThings · 07/03/2025 11:08

I would buy my dream remote country cottage and live reclusively with my husband taking each day as it came.

FanofLeaves · 07/03/2025 11:08

Ah see I don’t think it’s the money she wants. It’s fame and celebrity the world over. To be invited to every glittering exclusive event going and elevated to Diana-esque levels of adoration. She thought marrying into the royal family would give her this but she got it wrong, so she tried breaking away.

It’s still not happening though. She didn’t even attend an Oscars party.

Clopo · 07/03/2025 09:46

If I was an actress I’d want to continue in the entertainment field, as is the standard for all millionaires in the entertainment sector.

She's been dropped by her agency and she wasn't even contacted by Suits LA to play her character.

And yet you chose to add to the bizarre levels of Meghan hate threads, rather than starting one asking why, for eg, Musk doesn't use his billions for good instead of whatever the fuck he's doing with the US government. She was the only example you could think of of a millionaire who still works.
No matter how much money they have, finances will always be a huge concern for them given the security requirements they have. Harry had no choice about the family we was born into but it's made him and his family a permanent high risk for kidnapping etc.

From one lentil to another, as compared to people in developing countries, you are super rich. But do you contribute for starving children over there or do any humanitarian work?
You could even volunteer just once a week here. I do.

and now she has the opportunity to keep working in her field with her Netflix deals 🤷‍♀️

Is she harming anyone?

Is she harming anyone?

Yes. She is a bully who berates and belittles staff and colleagues.

There have now been numerous separate investigations by respected publications exposing her persistent and consistent appalling behaviour before, during and after her time in the Royal family - on both sides of the pond where dozens of staff have witnessed and been direct victims of her ongoing bullying.

Most recently only last month an expose by Vanity Fair and before that last year another bullying investigation by The Hollywood Reporter (both credible industry publications) and Access Hollywood, and previously The Times and the book 'Courtiers' by Valentine Low.

A current senior colleague spoke up about her bulling behaviour and others have reported that some staff have been hounded from their jobs and others required professional intervention for the mental injury inflicted.

And this highly litigious pair have not challenged these reports - as why?

Edited

Exactly. She's a bully and a liar, and has caused a lot of harm over the years.

I am not comparing their "work"
I am answering the question as to why MM still wants to "act" if she is rich.
She does it because she loves it. She is also surrounded by people who tell her that everyone REALLY wants to hear from her and she chooses to believe that

Relaxaholic · 07/03/2025 11:51

If I had that much money I would indulge myself with things like trying to write a book, travelling, spending lots of time with my family and possibly studying something niche to keep my mind fresh. And then I would quietly invest in some projects for commercial benefit and other projects purely to help others. What a privilege it would be!

So why mention her specifically then? Why not talk about multimillionaires generally? Thought this might be a safe zone away from Meghan bashing - and yes, I know I didn't have to open the thread.

Huckleberries · 07/03/2025 11:59

lentilbake16 · 07/03/2025 09:36

I was sort of disinterested in her tbh. But it turns my stomach. How do they live with themselves? They could quietly achieve a great deal.

And if they are quietly doing that, using profits from things like TV, you will still complain. Although you won't know what they do quietly.

HeadNorth · 07/03/2025 12:01

OP - head to Royal Family topic where you can bitch about Meghan Markle to your heart's content. It is preferable if the obsessive hate of a woman who has committed no crime could be confined to the one, easily avoidable place.

EasternStandard · 07/03/2025 12:02

It's a bit like a heavily produced IG thing selling lifestyle. Some like to do that with their time.

I haven't watched, but just from the trailer, it looks heavy on the flowery scenes.
