British Science Week - urgent help please

Long story short - science week project is due in on Friday. Son's dad was meant to do with him over last week and had promised him an experiment to do in class as part of his presentation. Nothing has been done. (He's a primary school teacher who has had his son for a week whilst I had an operation. I'm quite annoyed.)

Theme is Change and Adapt.

Five min presentation time. I think the idea was for each table to do the experiment along side his presentation.

My son is aged 11 in Year 6.

Any ideas what he can do? I'm happy to buy things if needed.

I'd thought about that volcano experiment but I'm not sure how to weave that into Change and Adapt.

Thank you.

Should find something here!

What does he like? Any hobbies?

Sounds like a climate kind of topic. I've got plants in my head, but not many plant experiments that will show something in a 5 minute presentation. I'm thinking.

STEM learning has some resources under science week "change and adapt" for primary.

Ooh. Could he make some muffins with insect powder and eat them??

PermanentTemporary · 05/03/2025 19:23

Maybe the experiment bit could be muffins made with and without the powder and a blind taste test with a few of his friends?? Or the audience?

Not sure if its allowed, but could ask AI for ideas, and mentioned he 'adapted' by using new technology to come up with ideas? Maybe feeding in some other interest of his too.
