How does eating different types of food make you feel? Am I becoming more sensitive now I'm eating more healthily?

I'm increasingly noticing that if I eat something with wheat, just by itself, I feel a bit spacey for the rest of the day. I seem to be able to eat it in the context of a fuller meal, so long as it's not much.

I've also noticed for a long time that sugar makes me feel a bit foggy and out of it, and seems to - not sure about this bit, but think it probably does - deepen my mood if I'm feeling a bit low already.

I normally try to eat pretty healthily, so I think that I'm becoming more sensitive when I go off track.

What have you noticed?

I have food intolerances but its a lot more dramatic than just feeling spaced out. It might be blood sugar related for you? Or is it related to a certain time of day? Eg I could sleep for hours after lunch

Carby meals make me really sleepy
UPF snacks just make me hungry
Bread makes me feel constipated and bloated

None of this used to happen to me!

Yes @WhatIsCorndogs I definitely have blood sugars that react fast so Im sure it is.....

Interesting @PsychoHotSauce - I suspect our bodies become less able to process stuff as we get older. You're right - I could eat anything in my 20s

The main thing for me is avoiding commercial baked goods. I've made my own bread since the beginning of the year, using rough wholemeal flour from Wilton Windmill. It contains stoneground wheat and nothing else. No flour improvers, no anti-caking agent, no mould inhibitor. No more bloating or generally feeling rough.

Since finishing chemo three years ago, I have eaten at least 30 different fruit & veg every week. I don't get colds anymore. I have lots of energy and feel good. I'm back to running twice a week.

It makes a huge difference
