Plan me a holiday!

Lovely problem to have - we have been gifted a holiday to a value of £7-8k and I have no experience of holidays in this cost bracket and have no idea what / where to go.

Our criteria:

  • the £7-8k is to cover flight / holiday, spends will be on top of this
  • it needs to be a "package" deal so flight & hotel all wrapped up in one payment transaction
  • 2 DD at teen / tween age, myself & DH
  • school summer holidays
  • ideally near a beach
  • DDs would like a lazy holiday but that would drive DH potty so somewhere with a bit of culture too. We went to Valencia last year and that was a good mix
  • not crazy crazy hot as none of us do well in too much heat
  • A week, but if the budget stretched to 10 days that would be fab
  • If it could feel a bit "special" that would be amazing, but I'm aware that I might have too high an expectation for what that budget can get us in the school holidays

Where would people recommend, or which companies should I be looking at for deals? Thanks!

What temp are you looking for?

You might get IKOS for a week in that budget, most of Europe will be hot.

Maybe mid to high 20s rather than in the 30s. Though if it's by the beach and with a breeze could probably go a bit higher.

Should have also added we're not massively keen on all inclusive, would rather have a half board to use as a base then have options to get out and about each day rather than staying in the hotel complex.

Those temp will be tricky in the summer and it’s unlikely to be warm enough to swim in am unheated outdooor pool.

Kenya might suit. Somewhere on the coast south of Mombasa.
Temperatures around 29°c all year round. Time difference not huge, so no issues with jet lag. Lots of different things to see or do, such as mini safari.
Very interesting country, lovely people and tasty food.
