I've just started reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and had a flashback to something else I read a few years ago.
In that story, a young woman had to go to the house of an older woman, possiblyto help write her memoir, but I'mnot quite sure.
I think the older woman had been a writer. She was living as a recluse. She was quite frial and had an injury to her hand/scarring on her palm that was to do with a house fire and significant incident.
I can't remember what it's called or who it's by.
Does it ring any bells with anyone?

It's not Tell Me How This Ends by Jo Leevers is it? That's about a young woman helping terminally ill people write their life stories.

Or maybe The Confession by Jessie Burton? It’s a while since I read it but that’s what this reminds me of.

Was it The Thirteenth Tale by Dianne Setterfield?

I second The Thirteenth Tale.

Verity by Colleen Hoover is about a writer finishing off a novel for an older woman who had become paralysed - I don’t remember anything to do with scarring on hands though…

My Lies, Your Lies is another possible (Susan Lewis). Definitely had the young ghost-writer writing the older woman’s memoir.

Possibly the ghostwriter by Alessandra Torre although I can't really remember if the woman had an injury
