Has anyone been to one of these to help stop smoking. Our County Council are offering them free of charge. It's about 5 hours (including fag beaks apparently 🤣🤣) held in our next town this week in a local hotel. I need to stop smoking, it's unhealthy, expensive and smelly - although I like it (maybe I'm not their desired candidate).

I know someone who did and stopped smoking. I just read his book 19 years ago and have never smoked again. The best £7.99 I ever spent.
I'd say go for it, you're very fortunate to be offered the course, I hear it costs £££s.

Go for it! If it's costing you nothing, what have you got to lose?

You'll either decide to ditch the fags or carry on smoking.

The key thing is that you have to want to give up and not just think you should because it's bad for you/expensive, etc. If you don't want to give up then it won't work.

Definitely the best way to stop smoking. Go, you won’t look back

Uppitywoman · 04/03/2025 17:21

I listened to the audiobook 3 years ago and gave up smoking just like that. Never looked back. I had tried everything else for over 40 years. Go for it. It’s free and you may come out of it a non smoker.

Munchyseeds2 · 04/03/2025 18:05

I'm another who knows 4 people who gave up having read the book
Give it a go

Noodlie · 04/03/2025 18:14

I went to one way back (when you were free to smoke as much as you wanted inside during the session, which shows how long ago it was!) It worked instantly and all was great for about nine months and then I stupidly started again during a stressful time. But definitely worth trying, it cost me a lot at the time so I’d jump at the chance of a free session, it really works if you want it to.

MummyDummyNow · 04/03/2025 18:18

Yes I did it about 15 years ago and it worked. 3 of my friends then went on to do it and it worked for them too, it's brilliant! If you have the chance then do it. I didn't even want to give up I just knew i should so i didn't think it'd work but it did.

Good luck!

Chatty Man?

My friend and her husband read the book and specifically about how it feels when you light the cigarette, what you feel etc as they lit a cigarette each. They quit and never smoked again. That was how it was described to me, I have never smoked. My Mum died of lung cancer from smoking. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I didn’t find it worked for me, but others have found it helpful. They said you shouldn’t have any cravings, so may have over egged the ‘easy’ part. It’s great they are offering it for free. Give it a go - it might help and you might be one of the ones who don’t look back. I found patches, nicorette pipe, exercise and tears worked better for me! Good luck 🤞
