I have got a bridge where my top front teeth should be, from a horse riding accident years ago. One of the teeth that the bridge is attached to is failing, and I need to get implants. I am petrified of the whole thing. But I have seen the dentist who will do it and feel slightly more reassured.
I will have a denture while the implants are healing, for at least 3-4 months. The dentist said the denture may not fit well for the first 2 or 3 weeks because of the swelling, and that eating with a denture will be a challenge.
While I appreciate his honesty, I am now even more scared! I have just got visions of the denture flying out of my mouth or moving around all over the place, and goodness knows how I am going to speak!
I know everyone's experience is different, but please if anyone has had this procedure would you mind letting me know is it really that bad. I will need one tooth extracted too which I am not looking forward to. And if anyone has any success stories of a denture please could I hear them. I have a feeling this will be one of those things that turns out to be not as bad as imagined. But it just feels so big at the moment, especially when it will involve a big three tooth gap right at the front of my mouth.
Thank you
