What's that thing you watch on telly or see on social media and think 'yep! I could easily do that!'...

... but in reality, you'd probably fail miserably 😂

Lighthearted! I'll go first.

There are many things, but give me 24 hours in police custody and I'll be convinced I could definitely solve a crime.

All those Facebook videos that you can't take your eyes off - when they put masking tape on a piece of paper and start blending dollops of paint to make an impressive sunset - no problem.

Any DIY video - let's go! It gets me believing that I could definitely build a 4 story bunk bed 😂

Ha! I know what you mean. I think I'd be really good at the arty pictures with just a few brush strokes of paint and a landscape appears.

beguilingeyes · 04/03/2025 09:12

I've always thought that I could do ski-jumping. I mean. how hard can it be? It's just a big slide.

allmycagesweremental · 04/03/2025 09:20

Ice skating. For some reason I am utterly convinced that with a couple of months of intense training I could compete at the olympics. I say this every time we watch the skating on the Winter Olympics. I have never been ice skating in my life.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 04/03/2025 09:23

Oh, it's the DIY ones for me as well. I am firmly convinced that, given the right equipment, I could convert my (tiny, two bedroomed Georgian cottage) into a six bedroomed villa. All I need is the drill, the sledgehammer, the RSJs, two tins of Farrow and Ball and some William Morris input and I'd have a palace.

What I would have would be a smouldering ruin. I keep asking my kids for a drill for Christmas and they keep giving me soap. It might be a hint.

EdithGrantham · 04/03/2025 09:24

Not getting caught on Hunted, I would just be really really good at hiding, how hard can that be!?

jay55 · 04/03/2025 09:27

Tap dance.
I did tap as a small child and despite hyper mobile ankles and zero rhythm I still watch it and think yeah I could dust off my tap shoes and pick that whole different style up.

wastingtimeonhere · 04/03/2025 09:29

In my head, I can
Pick up an electric guitar 🎸 and play amazing rock anthems
Give the kids in cobra kai a kicking with my middle-aged kicks
Solve crimes faster than tv crime busters.

I can only dream of any form of talent! 🙈😂

Puppupandaway · 04/03/2025 09:34

I could do Graham's job on Dogs behaving badly. I feel it's always really obvious what the owners are doing wrong (it's never the dogs fault, always the daft owners).

WeeklyNameChangeTime · 04/03/2025 09:40

Everything. I’ve got half finished projects everywhere because I see it on Instagram reels and give it a go myself. I’ve got so many crafting hobbies and house DIYs

Yes!! I've been a victim of panelling videos and then had to call my dad to the rescue 😂

I’m convinced that if they ever brought Total Wipeout back I’d smash it.

I could probably win the X factor too.

AubernFable · 04/03/2025 09:59

Mine’s a strange one, but any high-flyer corporate job or CEO position shown on TV. It is probably very mentally and emotionally draining but looks considerably easier than working with children and actually quite fun.

That being said it’s probably the last thing i’d retrain for.

Omg I’ve definitely thought I’d make a great traitor at some point. Let’s be honest, I’d probably do a Linda

Be a midwife in the 50's. So long as there's no needles or blood anywhere.

QueSyrahSyrah · 04/03/2025 10:02

In my head I'd absolutely smash race across the world. In reality I'd be absolutely stricken with stress and decision paralysis throughout and probably not make it out of the starting city.

Why not. I mean it's obviously something that interests you, why not give it a go. I am in my 60s and still enjoy ice skating (a bit more scared of falling over though). Nowhere near Olympic standard of course, a once a year skater.

TheoTurkey · 04/03/2025 10:05

Gladiators.

I’m fat, unfit, in my 50s but I watch the eliminator and always think I’d struggle with the rope net bit, when in reality there’s not a chance I’d make it that far. I’d probably struggle to get over the bars at the beginning. For some strange, strange reason I’ve got it
into my head that the rope net would be my undoing

Absolutely certain I could do a better job than any of the Apprentice candidates at any task other than the creative ones. I absolutely couldn't dream up a great brand in 2 hours (but neither can they to be fair) but I could blag my way through guiding a wine tour, negotiating without insulting the other party, add up a list of costs correctly or find stuff on a scavenger hunt.

Oh you've just reminded me! I'd be a cracking defence lawyer! 😂

I think almost anyone could do a better job than the apprentice candidates so you are probably correct.

Renovate our house

Make a felted something. My dd bought me a kit several years ago and I am too afraid I won't be able to do it. I've seen what can happen when it goes wrong😂
