He’s 3y2mo. Potty training started at 2y9mo and he’s been up and down but we got to a point. Of pretty much no accidents.

this week has been awful? He has actually been weeing himself on purpose! In nursery and laughed to the staff and today would just wee in his pants.

I am going to ring the health visitor on Monday I think I’m so worried ? Why is he doing this does anyone have any tips etc?????

Is he lacking in attention? Or too involved in something having fun and doesn't go? I nearly did it myself today watching a film.

Is he in nursery full time? It's clearly a behaviour thing, you need to ask yourself what this behaviour is saying.

Hollyjollywafflecone · 01/03/2025 18:06

Is he laughing out of nerves or embarrassment maybe? Could it be a uti?

Yes that’s what I’m wondering why is he doing it it does seem behavioural! In nursery he’s in 4 days, dropping to 3 next week as I can go part time!

but first time he laughed then yesterday the lady said he done it in some sort of protest?

I just can’t wrap my head around why :(

Toddlers learn to push the grown ups buttons sometimes, I suspect this is what he's doing, he's looking to see what reaction it gets. You and the nursery staff need to agree on a strategy.

Definitely. I try to be blaise but the times he’s done it I’m like oh no why haven’t you went on the potty you know to go etc and he laughs or just repeats what I said!

I had to up his nursery days to 4 days for a month while I returned to work after baby 2, I’m part time in March onwards so he goes back to 3 and I noticed since he upped his days his behaviour was different and I think it’s missing me and wanting me as he’d cry about pre school and say he wants to stay with me so maybe it’s all linked???

I suspect you're right. When he goes back to 3 days that might help. Meanwhile you and nursery should aim to give him minimal attention when it happens, simply hand him clean pants and trousers and tell him to change himself, don't help or watch over him, in fact walk away.

Thanks it really has worried me and made me feel awful we’d got to such a steady stage of potty training too
