I'd love to know how Trumps rant was viewed in America

I wonder how much support he has? I feel anyone of sound mind would surely be turning against him now?

But its hard to know.

My American family members are disgusted and said it was one of the most humiliating moments in Americas history.

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/03/2025 10:35

Among my friends mostly embarrassment. None of them are MAGAts though and none supported Trump in the first place.

I’d imagine die hard MAGAts think he’s rightly put Zelensky in his place.

How is it being reported in the papers over there?

I’m American (but haven’t lived there in a very long time) and I don’t know anyone in America who supports Trump or isn’t as appalled and enraged as all the rest of us normal sane people are. Please don’t think Americans are behind this. The white nationalist sort, yes. The ones who live in Oklahoma and have never left except to go to cousin Marvin’s wedding in Kansas, sure. The tech bros and the billionaires, yes of course. Republicans who side with anyone to get ahead in the political game, yes. But the average normal American as far as I can see, is very worried and very ashamed (and didn’t vote for him).

Media coverage is stifled because Trump has banned journalists who are not pro-Trump from the White House press pool. For example, if they refuse to say bloody ‘Gulf of America’. But also there is a lot of dissent and resistance too that isn’t being covered because media are trying to baby him a bit to not be banned.

My sister is American..But she is a brown pro choice bleeding heart Dem. So probably not representative.
She lives in a red state surrounded by people who think Trump and Vance have done extraordinarily well.

Unfortunately you have media outlets like Fox News over there

Edited

Those comments are like some of the ones I saw when I (in a mad moment) looked on Twittex last night. It was distressing.

Those I know are horrified, even a couple who have admitted they did vote for him.

I've also seen from them some stuff about Trump trying to put an order through giving him (as president) rights over things that should be independent. I initially dismissed them as conspiracy rubbish, but I'm not sure now. I've seen them from two or three separate places.

CNN is probably not the MAGA supporters' choice of news site but they are reporting on Zelenskyy's previous thankfulness including two recent examples of thanking Trump.

How the MAGA leaning sites report tomorrow's Europe / Zelenskyy meeting will be interesting.
