Best holiday destinations in Spain

The family and I are looking to visit Spain or Portugal this summer. I have never been and really want to avoid a concrete jungle vibe, also avoid any party/ brits abroad destinations. It would be nice to go to Barcelona for a day also, but this isn't a must.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Seville, Cadiz and Jerez
Malaga and Nerja

Nerja is lovely and a day trip to Malaga highly recommended.

In the summer, it will be very hot (compared to UK). However, if you have air-conditioned accommodation and stay inside during the hottest part of the day, you will be fine to visit anywhere in mainland Spain or the islands.

Personally I would fly to Valencia (lovely modern clean manageable and well managed airport), spend at least one night in Valencia and visit the city either at the start or end of your trip, then look for some accommodation on the coast to the north of Valencia (e.g. around Villarreal), from there you can easily do a day or overnight trip to Barcelona.
