I know that time isn't really speeding up but...
Also, I know that as you get older, time seems to go faster but I think it's since Covid, which was a time warp in itself but maybe it's more WFH, I dunno. Thoughts please?

On the other hand, I did a three month long in person course for work last year and it was so awful time seemed to go backwards.

This is a lighthearted thread and let's all dance around the kitchen/go to bed singing this classic tune:

Y' canna change the laws of physics, Jim! A

I know loads of these. Do you want to see The Muppets sing Bohemian Rhapsody? Your life could have continued very happily without these interruptions but anyway:

@Huckleberries

It was our first week back after half term, and we'd had a twilight meeting (6.30pm finish) , a parents' evening ( 7.30pm finish) and a staff meeting (6.15pm) We felt like we'd been at school for two weeks!

I was not prepared for this on so many levels 😂😂😂😂
Especially not for the monster to actually eat them.😱
And is that meant to be Angus from AC/DC?

edit - you have 100% enhanced my life with this!

Time drags in the moment when there is nothing to do. Our memories are fleeting despite the feeling of a lot of time passing while we're in it.

Time zips along when we are really engaged with the moment and a variety of experiences are available. Our memories endure because the content of the day was so enriching.

It’s going so fast! It’s mid March already and the days are passing by so quickly

Treesarenotforeating · 17/03/2025 20:32

I think the tv adverts have something to do with it
No sooner is Christmas over, valentine stuff is in, then Easter eggs . Before they break up for summer ‘back to school’ adverts start
its relentless

Thanks for reviving the thread. Hopefully the astronauts come back safely tomorrow. I don't want to talk about the whole Elon Musk political angle but do you age more quickly in space? Does time go faster or slower when you are stuck on the ISS?

Allegedly, your skin goes funny, your eyeballs go wonky, your bones thin, you lose spatial awareness and you are more at risk of a heart attack.

Mind you, that happens to me on Ryanair.

I can't stand all the, "Back To School" nonsense. Can't we just live in the moment a bit?

As you get older each week or month is a smaller percentage of your life, so it feels time is speeding up.

Huckleberries · 17/03/2025 21:58

Funny, I was thinking about this thread earlier

I was looking through my work diary because I don't understand how the time is gone so quickly and in winter as well. It's very unusual. I'm not complaining about it. I'm just really puzzled. Winter is normally such a slog. If I've grown out of it then I'll be delighted.

IDontHateRainbows · 17/03/2025 21:58

It's similar to when you go on holiday or start a new job. The first day or days seem to take forever as it's all your time there. Fast forward a few months ( in a job) and each day goes faster cos it's like 1/90 of your time there.

Those days vanish though! With a job, you're not clock watching on the first few days?

No, but it's more the perception of time after. I recently started a new new job abd the first week felt like a month! After a real month I couldn't believe I'd only been there a month, felt far longer. Now I've been there a while a month flies by and it feels like it can't have been a whole month since eg, a monthly meeting I attend. Bonkers!
