Waiting for a call back from nursery school

How long would you say is reasonable to wait? I called our local primary school on Monday to ask to book in for a quick tour of their nursery.

Receptionist took my number and said someone would call me back, I've called twice since then as I still haven't managed to speak to anyone and been cut off quite quickly with "I have given her your contact details to call back"

How long is reasonable to wait? 4 days seems a long time to me 😩

I know it may seem like a wait but if everyone rang three times for the same request, the office staff would be even busier than they already are.
It might not feel very welcoming but if it is a particular teacher dealing with visits to Nursery, she will probably have half a day per week PPA time and calling you back might be on a lengthy to do list.
I’d judge the school on how you feel and what you see when you do look around.

@24Dogcuddler thanks for the different perspective, I've emailed rather than call now just to ask for a slot. Fingers crossed

4 days isn't that long. After a week I would send a mail as a follow up.

It isn’t really an urgent request. They usually have waiting lists so you aren’t looking to start next week. It will be months surely at the earliest. I think a week is a perfectly normal response time. There is a lot of illness right now, so it’s possible they are short staffed. It’s also the first week back after half term in a lot of places, which is very busy.

Goodness they have your details, why do you keep contacting them?

Loupyloula98765 · 27/02/2025 12:25

Thanks for the perspectives, it's good to hear different points of view.

@FrannyScraps because I'd like to get a little more information and wasn't sure if I'd missed a call or they'd taken my details down correctly

@mindutopia we are actually hoping to move our child at Easter and if we want to go ahead we have to give notice at our current place
