I want to start a writers/readers group in Sussex?

In the last few years i've devoted more of my spare time to creative writing, and I'd love to develop my writing practice, and find like-minded people to read/chat/compare notes with!

I'm envisioning a meet up, (in a room above a pub or something like that), where we chat about a book or essays or whatever, and maybe one or two people read some of their work to the group... with the goal of encouraging each other and being less lonely in our wordy pursuits!

Does anyone know if this exists in sussex? I've tried searching facebook and meetup.com but not found much.

I guess I have to be the one to start something - is Meetup.com the best way? It does seem quite clunky and also expensive...

Sounds like a great idea. A bit different but I started up a book club because I'd wanted to join one and couldn't find an evening one in my area. we meet once a month in a local pub, which I popped into before we started to see if it was ok with them to save me an area once a month.

If I were you, I would go on your community page on fb and see what the interest is like and if there is enough then create your own group and start frok there

Facebook is probably the best way you’re right; I guess I’m trying to find a way to do it without alerting my Facebook friends, (and thereby all my family), not all of whom are nice or helpful…!
