Also own a small wooden stall that just sadly lives in the corner of the hall way no use what so ever but i by pass it every day its been there for 8 year.

@TheRealKatnissEverdeen He says he wants it for toasted sandwiches.

Our airfryer is probably our most used appliance

WatchingTheClowns · 26/02/2025 20:23

A sewing machine my husband bought for himself, about 7 years ago. It's never been used.

Ha - my son also went through a toasted sandwich phase so I used the grill (mine is Tefal not George Foreman) for these too. I'm definitely not getting rid of it in the event it comes in handy!

Would anyone sell or give this stuff away? A second life for the item and the negative energy of an unused item cleared from your home.
I started selling stuff that I no longer needed and now have a nice bit of money to buy what I do need.

FancyRedRobin · 26/02/2025 20:38

Although I think dump the vibrator 😂
Seriously though, since I read about Swedish death cleaning, I've realised I don't want my house to be a mausoleum of unwanted gear that someone else will throw out. I think it's part of acknowledging that we're leaving one life phase behind and entering another. A clear out leaves space for new things to come.

A heart shaped le creuset casserole dish. Never used it, awkward shape taking up way too much cupboard space.

And they’re way too heavy. I broke a Dutch oven and a top. I don’t want them anymore even though they look good.

TimeWarpAgain · 27/02/2025 00:54

Many, many, many kitchen gadgets!
NutriBullet Blender, Ice Vrusher & Slushy Machine, Volcano Waffle Maker, Food Chopper... I forget the rest!
DH buys them because they are a 'bargin' uses once and never again!
Thinking about it, I might list on FB Market Place, see what I can get... and list the gadgets too!

WellsAndThistles · 27/02/2025 00:59

Huge cast iron (?) casserole dish. Far too heavy to lift out the cupboard and impossible to lift safely with a big roast in it.

Other people ornaments, boxes of stuff belonging to DH's Grandparents and parents in the attic. Can't part with them for sentimental reasons but have no interest in them.

WellsAndThistles · 27/02/2025 01:03

I love my George Foreman Grill, makes the best panninis - only thing it's used for though as it's too much effort to clean it. Must be 20 years old.

Giggorata · 27/02/2025 01:21

I still use my Nutribullet but there's a popcorn maker, a George Foreman Grill, a toasted sandwich maker and an electric carving knife that should really go. Not sure about the Soda Stream or the bread maker.
We have MIL's wedding dinner service all packed away somewhere (which isn’t really our taste, so we don’t use it).
i have a bike that I'm not going to ride again as it's really a bit tall for me and I am sadly and gradually giving away all my beautiful high heeled shoes and boots, which I can no longer wear, thanks to the dicky ankle. 🥲

hereismydog · 27/02/2025 01:26

A whole chest of china teacups that DP’s grandparents (Ten Pound Poms) had shipped from Australia when they moved back to the UK. Untouched since they moved, even by them…the newspaper each cup is wrapped in is dated 1966!

Both GPs sadly gone now but the cups have come to live in our garage. We will probably never part with them, and it’ll be our poor DS who has to deal with the cups someday.

My husband smashed the lid of my heart shaped la creuset casserole dish too, and I also can’t bear to get rid of it yet never use it. I’m quite tickled to think of all those lonely old lidless but pretty dishes out there!

What about using it as a lovely plant pot?

@plainandsimpl wish you lived by me as we have a leaking tank and need to rehouse my fish which the kids no longer care about but which seem fit as fiddles !

Id love to but i live in suffolk lol.

An entire collection of apple iPhones and iPod classic with boxes from the iPhone 3. I keep thinking they're modern antiques!

Why on earth have you not used your sewing machine?([

My size 12 clothes .
I am a 16 and have been for a decade .

Save them anyway, unless they are totally out of date, you just might lose the weight. That’s what I’m doing. Here’s to hope and the future. I’m going to do it.

Basically everything in my house right now 😞😁😁!!

I am doing a big cull though at the moment.

Got to a stage where I was getting overwhelmed with the ...
" Ohh but that might come in useful for someone/thing " 😂😂!

Don’t think, just do.

I[m jealous of those of you with a real sewing machine. I lent mine to a friend and never got it back. My mum[s old Singer :( which means yesterday I had to make a dressing u cape on a shitty little mini sewing machine I bought for thirty quid on amazon during covid for making masks.

You can buy old singer sewing machines if you look. Some of them are antiques and worth really not that much. Some of the older ones were beautiful though.

For starters: two china cake stands, one of them vintage but ugly. The other pretty (though not my taste) retrieved from PIL's house.
A lot of stuff retrieved from their house, and my own DP's house. Seeing a theme yet?

Yeah, get rid of anything that doesn’t make you happy

The pp's mention of clothes rings true with me. I'm a size 14 and have very few clothes that fit me (I now hate shopping since I gained weight) but I have a wardrobe of lovely items in size 12 and below. I also have boxes and boxes of clothes in the attic, some are almost 30 years old, I hoped my niece would use some but she's got broader shoulders and hips than I had and the clothes won't ever fit her. I really need to start sorting them but really wish I had someone to pass some bits to. I pulled out some lovely denim minis recently and felt to sad I'd never wear them again but happy memories of wearing them and just having a carefree time. There are evening dresses, trouser suits, lovely fitted shirts, jeans etc. Whenever I pull something out of the boxes I amaze at the difference in quality of clothes a few years ago and now, stuff I got in the likes of Jane Normans was better quality than very expensive stuff today.

The problem with this is that the clothes are outdated. If I try to give my clothes to my daughter she laughs in my face and my niece just says, no thank you auntie

Tents and camping gear. Not camped for years but can't bear to part with my gorgeous canvas bell tent plus the rest. I'm not sure I'll ever be physically able to camp again due to a dodgy hip and knees buggered from an old biking accident.

I gave my stuff away and I regret it.

My 'good' china, still in boxes from when we moved thirteen years ago.
